Amazon is hiring Head of Category to improve the experience for our African customers.
**This is a senior-manager role, part of the core leadership team**
In this role, you will own the category P&L and will be responsible for leading and developing a high performing team, setting strategy to drive profitable growth, creating strong partnerships with selling partners, exploring new and emerging business models, running day-to-day operations, and delivering innovation to improve the customer experience.
Key job responsibilities
• Manage a full P&L, including planning, forecasting and driving growth for the category, possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact the business.
• Execute a strategic business development plan while working with key internal stakeholders (e.g., operations, marketing legal, tech).
• Develop and lead a multi-functional team of Vendor Managers and Program Manager
• Lead day-to-day operational aspects of the business, including gathering and addressing customer and vendor feedback, price management, and business improvement initiatives.
• Set goals and strategic direction for the business, ensuring alignment with broader business goals and vision.
• Represent Amazon when meeting with senior executive teams from top vendors and building long term strategic relationships.
• Generate and implement big ideas to drive business improvements, innovation, and scale within the category and across the Retail business.
• Lead cross functional collaboration on necessary systems and processes to support business needs, including retail systems, site merchandising and in-stock.
• Innovate and implement new customer and vendor programs.
• Collaborate on Marketing and Merchandising initiatives.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: •Bachelor's degree.
•10+ years sales and/or vendor management experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
•MBA or Master's degree preferred
•Experience working with diverse geographical teams
•Experience leading cross-functional projects
•Track record of delivering results and an ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
•Strong business judgment with a track record of successful negotiations and overall relationship management.
•Proven analytical thinking, project management skills, and exceptional organizational skills are essential.
•Ability to think strategically and tactically, with attention to detail.
•Tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment is essential for success.
