DescriptionThe Head of Architecture and Engineering is a pivotal leadership role with direct oversight of the architecture, engineering, and enablement sub-functions.
This individual will be responsible for ensuring that the ITS's architecture and engineering practices align across ITS services and contribute to the Investec's overall technical strategy.
The role demands a blend of technical acumen, strategic thinking, and leadership to drive the delivery of modern infrastructure solutions in a hybrid on-prem and cloud environment.

Architecture Sub-Function Leadership? Guide the architecture team in developing and maintaining a cohesive and scalable architectural framework that aligns with the firm's infrastructure strategy.? Ensure that architectural designs and decisions support hybrid infrastructure models and facilitate seamless integration across various service offerings.2.
Engineering Sub-Function Oversight? Lead the engineering team to implement best practices in infrastructure-as-code, automated on-premise and cloud deployments, and security.? Drive technical excellence and innovation in engineering solutions, ensuring they are efficient, reliable, and secure.? Ensure that infrastructure security and least privilege security practices are embedded in engineering design and execution3.
Enablement Sub-Function Direction - Oversee the enablement team to ensure that infrastructure services are accessible, well-documented, and easy for internal teams to consume "as-a-service."
- Facilitate the provision of training and resources to support the adoption and effective use of infrastructure services by federated teams.4.
Strategic Alignment and Collaboration - Collaborate with the technical leaders of ITS Digital Workplace Services, Microsoft Enterprise Services, Infrastructure Services, and Workplace Services to ensure architectural and engineering alignment across ITS- Collaborate with technical leaders outside of ITS to ensure services offered enable their individual delivery of business unit services - Participate in Group communities to contribute to the firm's overall technical direction and objectives.5.
Team Management and Development - Build and nurture a high-performing team across the architecture, engineering, and enablement sub-functions.
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Qualifications? Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.? Significant experience in IT architecture and engineering, specifically within hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.? Demonstrated leadership in managing architecture and engineering teams, with a focus on infrastructure-as-code and cloud technologies.? Strong understanding of service enablement and the delivery of platforms "as-a-service.
"? Relevant industry certifications in cloud architecture, engineering, and security.? Proven ability to align departmental objectives with broader organizational goals.
