An opportunity is available for a self-driven, commercially minded individual to lead our High-Net-Worth business portfolio. This involves networking, partner engagement, negotiation, deal making, as well as internal management of execution across the entire value chain, much of which is through matrix delivery to drive profitable growth within the intermediated commercial and personal lines. The role will be based in the Santam Wanderers office, Illovo, Sandton.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLETo lead and play a strategic role in the growth and development of the segment and positioning the organisation within the broader business community whilst collaborating closely with other industry and business leaders.
Key DeliverablesTo lead the business in delivering on the set business objectives and expectations of the Santam Board, which includes but is not limited to delivering on the profit and growth objectives.Drive and oversee the successful integration of the High-Net-Worth Portfolio.Provide the appropriate channel strategies and mobilise the management team to deliver on these with their teams to achieve targeted growth objectives at profitable margins.Identify and drive business efficiencies and exploit all business improvement opportunities.Grow the portfolio in terms of market share and profitability.Manage stakeholder and value chain relationships to ensure sustainability, profitability, and business model success.Facilitate growth in all other areas in Intermediated Business.Business Development.Manage relationships with internal, external, and industry partners.Adapt the strategy to fit market conditions and needs.Drive a high performance and staff retention culture.Empower, develop, and motivate employees and top talent and specialists to achieve operational excellence.Drive digital transformation in the business and client base.Ensure collaboration between various business functions to achieve the business objectives.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCECommercial or Insurance related qualifications/ AIISA or FIISA or similar qualification (NQF 7).Ten (10) years' Management experience within the Financial Services Industry (Short-term insurance).Five (5) years Management Experience at senior level.Experience across Personal and Commercial Lines.Business Partnership experience (intermediaries).RE1 and RE5 preferred.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSRegulatory & Compliance.Strong analytical skills.Strong networking and stakeholder management skills.Strong communication and relationship building skills.Understanding of the strategic imperatives facing the Short-Term industry and global industry trends.Understanding financial statements, ratios, and key indicators.Budget Management.COMPETENCIESDeveloping and Driving strategy.Collaborative Leadership.Commercial orientation.Drives results.Flexibility & adaptability.High business acumen.High learning agility.Client focus.Cultivates innovation.Change leadership.Team focused leadership.Talent enablement.Emotional intelligence.Collaboration.ABOUT THE COMPANYSantam is the market leader in the general insurance industry in Southern Africa.
