Head Guide/Camp Manager Couple required for a Game Lodge in the Limpopo. R35,000 DOE.
Head Guide
POSITION
Supervise and manage Field Guides accompanying and guiding Guests throughout their stay at the Lodge.
Ensure Guest safety and satisfaction from arrival till departure.
Ensure all Field Guides and Trackers perform their tasks according to Standard Operating Procedures.
Conduct quality checks of Guest satisfaction with bush activities.
Allocate Safari teams to Guests well in advance.
Ensure you are aware of additional activities such as walks, sleepouts etc.
Overall Guest safety.
Overall Guest satisfaction.
All tasks performed according to standard.
Supervise the organization of bush activities and promotion of awareness, understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural features of the Game Reserve.
Vehicles
Schedule morning and afternoon bush activities (or walks).
Ensure excellent condition of game vehicles.
Ensure all firearms are handled, maintained and stored according to updated Handling and Safety Procedures at all times.
Develop and update Rules and Regulations of bush activities and make sure all is adhered to.
Develop and update driving Rules and Regulations and make sure all is adhered to.
Scheduled and well-organized bush activities.
Game vehicles maintained and presented according to standard.
Firearms Procedures followed.
Driving Rules and Regulations followed.
Host Guests and conduct bush activities
When needed, conduct bush activities with Guests as required.
Guest satisfaction
Train Field Guides and Trackers
Ensure that all staff are trained according to reserve standards
Well-trained staff
Attend meetings and liaise with management when required.
Field guiding department is scheduled according to lodge occupancies and Field Guides and Trackers are allocated efficiently to Guests.
Department prepared for Guest bush activities
Schedule staff and control off-days
Staff scheduled according to organizational requirements.
Staff efficiency
Set up wildlife management projects, including surveys and monitoring of wildlife.
Completed surveys and up to date wildlife information.
Investigate on matters relating to Game Reserve management as notified / mentioned by Field Guides or Trackers.
Provide daily supervision and training of Field Guides and Trackers.
1st Aid, Birding, geology, Astrology, Hosting and Hospitality, Driving Skills and Safety, Weapon Training and Shooting, H&S.
Develop time schedules on daily activities.
Communicate with Field Guides and Trackers on daily activities and time schedules.
Activity and time schedules developed.
Make sure fauna & flora are preserved.
Capture and relocate potentially dangerous animals.
Adhere to all other tasks as requested by Owner and Management.
All other tasks adhered to.
Stock Controls: Responsible for all Stock, Equipment,1st Aid Equipment , Vehicles, Radios, Rifles and Ammunitions. Regular checks made to ensure serviceability, and Monthly counts done according to Galodge SOPs.
Licenses and qualifications: Ensure all licenses are kept up to date for Guides (PDP, Rifle Licenses, 1st Aid,etc).
Ensure the upliftment of Guides and Trackers in attaining Levels of guiding and tracking. ALL Trackers need to be fully L1 Guides.
Regular Liasion with the Reserve Warden to include head Guide Meetings and Guide meetings as and when called for by the Warden.
Regular Comms with the Owner and Ops Manager.
ORGANISATION RELATED
Report to duty at Lodge on time.
Ensure timesheets are completed accurately, are signed and handed in timeously.
All operational rules and regulations must be adhered to at all times.
The rules and regulations of the site must be adhered to at all times.
The correct uniform must be worn for work. Ensure to maintain uniform and uniform quality.
Camp Manager
POSITION
Provide personal and professional service to all Guests.
Check occupancy forecasts ahead of time in order to prepare the lodge for adequate stock and staffing levels.
Be present for the arrival of every Guest to the lodge, and greet them by name according to lodge standards. Accommodate special requests whenever possible.
Inform Guests about the Lodge's facilities, and house rules.
Arrange transport and accommodation for Guests travelling to other destinations, and all other concierge duties.
Personal and professional service provided to all Guests.
Perform general Front of House tasks according to standard.
Perform general administrative duties and communicate with the Ops Center.
Deal with enquiries and requests from Guests.
Take messages for Guests.
Follow procedures for issuing and closing safe deposit boxes used by Guests.
Coordinate room status updates with the Housekeeping department by notifying housekeeping of all check-outs, late check-outs, early check-ins and special requests.
Ensure Guests are aware of Curio Shop, Special Wines, Massages etc so that Sales can be carried out and target driven.
General Front of House tasks performed according to Lodge standards.
Room status updated on a frequent basis and Housekeeping informed accordingly.
Accounting and control of all monies received, ensure Guests' accounts are settled in a courteous and accurate way and check all cash-ups.
Calculate Guests' bills and issue receipts upon payment.
Thoroughly understand and adhere to proper credit, cheque-cashing, cash-handling and foreign exchange policies and procedures.
Accurately settled Guests' accounts.
All monies controlled and cash ups checked.
Supervise F&B and HK staff.
Supervise the services of Food & Beverages and Housekeeping while performing their daily tasks.
Check chalets for neatness and conformity before Guest checks in.
Check menu's, bar and Main Areas before every service period.
Inform new employees of property regulations.
Inform all new employees of regulations.
Train all staff and ensure that staff are providing service according to lodge service standards.
Check on the quality of work performance of all staff members and report on the performance of the all employees.
New employees informed and trained according to standard.
Performance of all employees reported on.
Health and Hygiene.
Adhere to all Health and Hygiene rules and regulations and keep these updated as required by company SC.
Safety and Security.
Adhere to all Safety and Security rules and regulations and keep these updated as required by company SC.
Responsible for all assets and equipment of the lodge.
Responsible for daily, weekly and Monthly Stock counts as and when necessary.
Control of stock.
Ensure sufficient stock is available at all times.
Ensure stock levels balance the theoretical stock levels.
Sufficient stock available.
Actual stock levels balance the theoretical stock levels.
Staff welfare & HR issues.
Deal with HR Issues and manage and maintain staff welfare.
Follow up on HR Issues with General Management if necessary.
Receiving of gratuities.
Receive all gratuities and divide over all staff according to company gratuity procedure.
Gratuities received and divided over staff.
Hosting during meals and events.
Check all Public Areas, Table settings, service etc is done to the highest of standards at all times.
Organize daily meetings.
Conduct daily meetings to discuss upcoming events and new arrivals.
Meetings conducted.
Liase with Field Guides and Reserve staff.
Ensure Guides are up to date regarding activities and check out times etc.
Ensure the general smooth running of Lodge.
Ensure welcome letter and welcome amenities are supplied to new Guests.
Arrange placement of letter and amenities in chalets and tents with Housekeeping.

Monitor Guest satisfaction.
