Job Purpose
Accountable for establishing the data quality management practice and for promoting the value and potential of data quality across the organisation. Building, managing and governing the Nedbank data quality toolset. Has the overall responsibility for developing the data quality management strategy and plan. Works with the data, technology and business community to implement the data quality management plan, which includes metrics identification and data profiling. Oversees the delivery of and operation of data quality management processes. Uses data quality management tools to gather and analyse data quality metrics. Designs and develops data quality management training and awareness plan. Defines tasks, roles, responsibilities and processes for supporting and promoting the quality of the data asset across Nedbank. Co-ordinates the activities and resources to ensure that the decision-making process relating to data quality is consistent throughout the data management organisation. Responsible for the governance structure supporting data quality programs, projects and practices. An in-depth understanding of a bank or financial institution's business is key. This includes comprehending the business processes, its business model, and demonstrating strong organisational acumen. It is essential to have a thorough knowledge of how a bank/financial institution operates, its strategic objectives, and the competitive landscape within which it functions. This understanding will enable effective leadership, better collaboration, and informed decision-making that aligns with Nedbank's overarching goals.
Job Responsibilities
Data Quality Monitoring: Support the ongoing assessment of data and business processes to detect data defects and business process inefficiencies.
Data Quality Assessment: The definition of data quality controls, business rules and thresholds and their application to a defined set of data or metrics. (Includes activities such as data profiling, matching, parsing and root cause analysis to identify the cause of data quality issues).
Data Quality Reporting: Ensure that all stakeholders are informed about data quality issues based on the results of data quality monitoring and assessment.
Data Quality Portfolio Monitoring: The identification, prioritisation, planning and tracking of data remediation initiatives based on the results of data quality monitoring and assessment across the enterprise.
Data Quality Platform Provisioning: Ensure that data quality tools and technologies are available to support the implementation of data quality services.
Data Quality Standards Guidance: Provide input and minimum requirements into the development of data quality standards by cluster data management organisations (Data and metrics owners and business data managers).
Ensure that minimum data quality requirements to be met by all clusters are set.
Be consulted for data quality related input on, and be informed of, any data management services related to data quality management.
Identify opportunities to influence the improvement or enhancement of business processes and methodologies by researching and recommending improvement initiatives and effective ways to operate and add value to Nedbank.
Contract deliverables, services and pricing with Nedbank clusters and agree transfer pricing allocation to clusters. Utilise budget allocation effectively by implementing enhancements to data quality practices and improve efficiencies for the benefit of stakeholders.
Review Nedbank and Data Analytics Office strategy and plan and ensure delivered systems, process, services and solutions are aligned to support the achievement of the business strategy, objectives and values.
Obtain enterprise-wide buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes that will improve the functioning of business by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations.
Financial management of business unit, people and talent management of direct reports and collaboration across division and clusters.
Essential Qualifications - NQF Level
Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Honours Degree
Essential Certifications
DAMA certified data management professional (CDMP) or Related certification
Minimum Experience Level
Minimum of 10 years industry experience with at least 5 years in managing diverse cross-functional teams at a senior level.
