We are seeking a talented and experienced Head Chef to lead the kitchen team at a prestigious hotel in Johannesburg. The ideal candidate will have a strong culinary background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage all kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, presentation, and delivery.
• Design and create innovative menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and catering to a variety of guest preferences.
• Oversee and mentor kitchen staff, providing training, guidance, and fostering a positive, team-oriented environment.
• Ensure consistency and quality across all dishes, maintaining high standards of taste, presentation, and portion control.
• Manage kitchen inventory, including ordering, storage, and ensuring the proper use of ingredients to minimize waste.
• Control food costs and ensure that all kitchen operations adhere to budget and profitability targets.
• Maintain strict adherence to health and safety standards, including food hygiene regulations.
• Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth communication and an exceptional guest experience.
• Monitor and maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Handle guest feedback professionally and resolve any concerns related to food quality.
• Stay updated on culinary trends and adapt to evolving food preferences and dietary requirements.
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a Head Chef or Executive Chef, preferably in a hotel or fine dining establishment.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in managing kitchen teams.
• Expertise in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation, with an understanding of a wide range of cuisines.
• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations, health and hygiene standards.
