Position Overview:
My client is seeking a passionate and experienced
Head Chef
to lead the culinary operations at a prestigious Country Club & Golf Course. The Head Chef will be responsible for managing the entire kitchen, overseeing food preparation, menu development, and leading a team of kitchen staff. This role demands a blend of creativity, leadership, and financial management to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality dishes while maintaining profitability and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Menu Planning & Development:
Design innovative and seasonal menus aligned with the Club's vision. Ensure the quality and presentation of all dishes, regularly updating the menu based on feedback, ingredient availability, and culinary trends.
Team Leadership & Management:
Lead and mentor a high-performing kitchen team, overseeing recruitment, training, and staff development. Foster a positive work environment and ensure staff meet uniform and hygiene standards.
Food Quality & Standards:
Maintain exceptional standards in food preparation, cooking, and presentation. Regularly inspect kitchen areas for cleanliness, safety, and compliance with food safety regulations.
Inventory & Supply Management:
Manage the purchasing of ingredients and kitchen supplies. Conduct regular inventory checks, maintain optimal stock levels, and negotiate with suppliers for the best prices.
Kitchen Operations & Efficiency:
Implement systems to maximise productivity and ensure smooth coordination between front and back-of-house teams. Oversee equipment maintenance and cleanliness, and ensure timely service, particularly during high-demand periods.
Budget & Financial Management:
Manage food and labour costs to align with budget targets. Develop cost-effective menu options, monitor financial performance, and collaborate with management to set pricing.
Customer Satisfaction & Feedback:
Work closely with the front-of-house team to ensure customer satisfaction. Address guest complaints, gather feedback, and continuously improve the dining experience.
Health, Safety & Compliance:
Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations. Conduct regular kitchen inspections, train staff in food handling, and enforce hygiene and safety protocols.
Innovation & Trend Awareness:
Stay updated on culinary trends and experiment with new techniques to keep the menu fresh and exciting. Attend industry events to inspire creativity within the team.
Key Skills & Competencies:
Culinary expertise with a wide range of cooking techniques.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor and develop staff.
Creativity in menu design and food presentation.
Excellent time management and the ability to work under pressure.
Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost management.
Attention to detail with a commitment to high food quality and safety standards.
Excellent communication skills for team coordination and customer interactions.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proven experience as a Head Chef or in a senior kitchen management role.
Formal culinary education or equivalent experience.
Strong understanding of kitchen operations, budgeting, and food safety regulations.
Experience managing a high-volume kitchen while ensuring both speed and quality.
HACCP certification or equivalent food safety qualification is preferred.
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to handle the physical demands of a busy kitchen environment, including standing for extended periods and handling hot equipment.
