Group Reporting Accountant

Purpose of the Role:To prepare the consolidated monthly management accounts, interim and annual reports for the group and its subsidiary companies and share trust.To prepare the books for the dormant and semi-dormant entities within the group.Statutory reporting – SARS, COID and Stats SA (includes attending to queries raised).Assistance with company secretarial requirements.Review and reporting on general ledger accounts.SARS matters.B-BBEE.Board and Audit Committee Packs.Ad-hoc projects and assignments.Duties / Responsibilities:Finance and Planning (20%)Developed and Managed Budgets:On-time submission of operational inputs into budget as per required format and guidelines.Proper investigation and acceptable explanation of budget variances on a monthly basis.Co-ordinated and Managed Division Operational, Cashflow and Capex Budgets.Annual compilation of budget framework for divisions in accordance with group finance guidelines and on time distribution to divisions and branches.Set guidelines on optimal fund distribution / allocation in accordance with group budget constraints and strategic / operational requirements.Financial Management (45%)Managed Financial Accounting:On-time reporting.No material audit adjustments.Accurate analysis of income and expenditure and reporting on variances.Year-end and interim report process completed on time and as per group policy and procedures.Managed Financial Performance:Proficient advice to the Management Team on financial matters.Appropriate financial processes in place to support operational requirements.Monthly review of income and expenditure forecasts.Corporate Risk Management (25%):Managed Risk:Complete and on-time audits (internal and external).Annual revision of internal control measures to ensure good governance in compliance with Financial Policy and Delegation of Authority Framework (DAF).Managed Short Term and Credit Insurance:Ensure that all assets are properly insured in line with group policy.Ensure that all trade debts are properly insured in line with group policy.Manage Assets (5%):Compliance with group asset management processes.Monitor updated asset register to be maintained for branches as per group Asset Management policy.Team Contribution (Pledge) (5%):Demonstrate integrity in everything they do.Work together to achieve common goals.Celebrate innovation and cherish performance.Perform with professionalism, skill and care.Exceed customers' expectations every day.Qualifications / Experience:Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Finance / AccountingA minimum of 3 years' relevant financial reporting experienceA minimum of 3 years' articles experience at an audit firm.4 years' relevant accounting experience preparing consolidated management accounts, interim and annual reports in terms of IFRS for a listed group.Previous management / supervisory experience in a similar roleComputer proficiency – MS Excel (non-negotiable)Sage 300 / Accpac working experienceAbility to work after hours when required in order to meet reporting deadlinesOwn vehicleCompetencies:Generic Management – planning, organising and controlling (scheduling) work with problem-solving skillsBusiness Communication & Administration – business correspondence, meetings, administration, policies and proceduresTechnical Specific Competencies:Understanding and knowledge of Statutory Requirements.Understanding and knowledge of accounting especially IFRS.Basic knowledge and understanding of client contracts.Preparing and reviewing reconciliations.Understanding and application of Company Financial Policy.Knowledge and understanding of Group Internal Control.Performing Financial Administration.Behaviour Competencies – analytical, structured, systems, creative and adaptability thinkingDecision making / problem solving Competencies – judgement and decisivenessAction Orientated (result) Competencies – initiative, persistence, innovation, achievement and service orientatedInterpersonal Competencies – relations, communication, assertiveness, empathy, persuasion and organisational awarenessIntrapersonal Competencies – stress and self-masteryDesired Traits and Attributes:ConscientiousnessOrderlyCreativeResilienceDriveResponsibilityEmotional MaturitySelf ConfidenceFlexibilitySelf-control/DisciplineIndependenceSelf-awarenessIntegrityStress ToleranceNumerical ReasoningTrust
