About the role Reporting to the Operations Director, the purpose of the role is to provide technical support to the Ops Director and Business Units Managers through provision of sound processes, systems, data analysis and compilation of reports.
Key responsibilities
Suggest new technology / systems optimization and integration/ practice introduction to existing business units considering congruencies.
1. Strategic Business Planning:
a. Develop a framework for Business Planning at Operations
b. Develop a framework for budget and execution planning.
c. Project manage investigations into strategic growth options
d. Run Project Delivery Steering Committee
e. Develop models and value propositions.
f. Run comparative scenarios.
g. Support Ops Director in generating Operation Strategy submission to ExCo/Board
h. Integrate various planning streams into an integrated system.
2. Performance measurements:
a. Introduce meaningful measurements throughout the process.
b. Compile meaningful reports on real time performance.
c. Develop strategy for automation and digitisation.
3. Benchmark:
a. Benchmark performance cost and performance
b. Analyse and compare performance.
c. Compile and report on trends.
d. Make recommendations to improve performance.
4. Continuous improvement:
a. Project Manager for the cost reduction project (journey to $20/kg) – identifying work streams and develop a project charter.
b. Develop scorecards to track improvements.
c. Explore new technologies to improve performance.
d. Explore technology for automation and digitisation
e. Identify potential areas for A & D projects
f. Lead the A & D process with Engineering and IT partners.
g. Create platform for future A & D.
5. Technical reviews:
a. Analyse performance – MetBal, Control charts
b. Conduct technical reviews with operations in conjunction with peers
6. Reporting:
a. Be the custodian of information.
b. Compile weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
c. Compile ExCo reports end to end
d. Compile investor reports end to end
e. Compile Boards reports
f. Prepare presentations and motivations
7. Support
a. Support Operations Director in adhoc requests of project management
About you
Relevant B-Degree (e.g. BSc Engineering)Post graduate degree - advantageousLean and Six Sigma
Financial/Statistical or Data Modelling7 to 10 years relevant work experience with at least 3 spent in mining or industrial manufacturing environmentProven working experience in a Lean and/or Six SigmaProven data analytics and research experienceAdvanced Excel and PowerPoint skills essentialAble to manipulate large, complex data sets using a variety of software applications (SPSS, SAS, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite), including the use of relational databases and able to perform statistical analysisDemonstrated proficiency with Minitab and/or JMP or similar to analyze dataSkilled knowledge in generating process documentationStrong written and verbal communication skills with technical writing skillsProven ability to present complex information in easy-to-understand terms Please note the following
