OverviewReferenceGroup AccountantSalaryZAR/monthJob Location- South Africa -- Johannesburg Metro -- JohannesburgJob TypePermanentPosted12 February 2024Our client is looking for a Group Accountant to join their team, who will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, budgeting, risk management, and tax compliance for the group, while also providing leadership and guidance to the accounting team.Responsibilities:Prepare and consolidate financial statements for the group, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to accounting standards.Develop and manage group-wide budgets and forecasts, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.Identify and assess financial risks across the group, implementing controls and mitigation strategies where necessary.Monitor cash flow positions, manage cash balances, and optimize cash utilization across the group entities.Ensure compliance with tax regulations, oversee tax filings, and liaise with tax authorities to resolve any issues.Conduct variance analysis, performance evaluations, and financial modeling to support business performance reviews and planning.Coordinate internal and external audits, prepare audit schedules, and address audit findings to ensure timely completion and compliance.Identify opportunities for process improvements, streamline accounting procedures, and implement best practices across the group.Provide guidance and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.Key Skills:Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting standards.Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.Proven ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement effective controls.Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team towards achieving common goals.Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA, CA, or equivalent certification preferred.Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) and tax regulations.Experience in consolidation accounting and group financial reporting.Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiencies.Experience in a multinational or group accounting environment is highly desirable.
