Responsibilities: Ability to do extensive monthly reports. Manage and execute day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations. Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations to the director for strategic decision-making. Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and compliance with SARS and other regulatory requirements. Prepare accurate and timely annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Monitor and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and policies. Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and provide necessary support to facilitate the audit process. Lead and mentor junior staff, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development. Collaborate cross-functionally with departments to optimize financial performance and achieve business objectives. Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices in financial accounting and reporting. Submission of SARS statutory returns (VAT201, EMP201, EMP501 and Income tax return). Attend to SARS matters (General queries, lodging objections, and providing relevant supporting documents when required). Maintain an accurate fixed assets register and physical assets verifications. Prepare variance reports, clearly addressing material differences against budgets and previous results. Review of monthly payroll reports to ensure they are correct and in line with the relevant regulations. Prepare finance policies and standard operating procedures. Process payments on various client banking portals. Improve Internal controls and ensure adherence to controls in place. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Proven experience (10 years) in financial accounting, preferably within the security and construction industry. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations (IFRS). Experienced and independent person to oversee the finance department, plan and balance multiple tasks. Proficiency in accounting software (Pastel partner) and MS Office suite, particularly Excel. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities. Experience in mentoring junior staff. Excellent organizational and planning skills with the ability to prioritize time and work effectively.
