ThoroughTec Simulation is seeking a Graphic Designer/ 3D Artist to join their E-learning Department, based in Durban, in a full-time capacity.
We require an individual with a flair for creativity and an interest in designing artwork and instructional animations and who can work in an agile environment.
Ideally, the perfect candidate should be able to create exciting and believable animations and stills for mining vehicles, characters, in-game objects and cinematic scenarios. Must be willing to travel both locally and internationally.
Key responsibilities will include:
Working closely with the e-learning team to establish the requirements for the project.
Create high quality in-game animations, integrate, set-up, and support our animation content pipeline.
Collaborate with the e-learning team to support prototype efforts and final media that fits the aesthetic direction and vision of the project.
Responsible for final video and audio edits.
Modelling and texturing accurate vehicle consoles and environments.
Development of interactive 3D lessons within the Unity game engine.
Creation of high quality 3D still renders.
Candidates must exhibit or be able to demonstrate:
Working with in-game animation setup and integration with engines like Unity.
Able to create and troubleshoot animation rigs in 3DS Max.
Basic understanding of XML/HTML.
Creative mind, innovative ideas, proactivity and the ability to think and learn fast.
The ability to work in a close team environment as well as the capability to work independently, whilst taking responsibility as an individual.
A positive and engaging attitude in dealing with people.
An ability to work in a cross functional team with challenging deadlines.
Ability to manage multiple tasks or projects at one time.
Acceptance of feedback and constructive evaluation of work.
Time management skills with a keen attention to detail.
Excellent communication, both written and verbal.
Experience & Qualification
A 3D animation/ Graphic Design qualification from a reputable institution or relevant tertiary qualification.
Talented 3D skills with a relevant 3D portfolio.
3DS MAX experience. (essential)
Working with and animating vehicle rigs in 3Ds Max.
Extensive Photoshop experience. (essential)
Adobe Illustrator experience. (essential)
2D artwork skills for various implementations.
Adobe Premiere experience. (essential)
The following skills and/or experience, would be an advantage:
Adobe Audition knowledge advantageous.
Adobe After Effect knowledge advantageous.
Substance Painter / PBR knowledge advantageous.
Creative problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of scripting and tool creation for animation.
Understanding of motion graphics tools and techniques.
Unity knowledge advantageous.
Writing code in C#, JavaScript/UnityScript.
Visual scripting.
