Purpose of Position:To assist the Controller – EMEA in the day-to-day management and accounting and financial accounting functions, including the provision of accurate and timely reports to the management teamMajor Areas of Responsibility:Responsibility for accounting records (Profit and Loss, Balance Sheet etc.) and maintaining accuracy of general ledgerCo-ordinate the project accounting requirements (revenue recognition, milestone invoices, deferred revenue) and extracting project reports from SAP for analysis and investigation of variancesProactively manage the Accounts Receivable ledger to ensure timely recovery of all debts and where required, enlist support of Account Managers to recover overdue amountsAssist with uploading and checking of monthly financial and statistical reports in OneStream (OS) systemAssist with the migration process of new acquisitions and work with SAP Migration team to ensure timely and accurate transition to Clients Mining processesTimely lodgment of all statutory returns, reports and renewals. (BBBEE, Annual Return of Earnings etc.)Participation in yearly company audits and liaison with external audit teamAssist in the month end and quarter end close process – journals, cost allocations, recharges etc.Assist with ongoing forecasts of Leica's projected financial performanceCompliance with Clients Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures, participation in audits and compliance with instructions given in respect of himself/herself and the safety of othersOther duties as required from time to timeChallenges / problem solving skillsDealing with conflicting prioritiesDealing with non-technical audience on finance/accounting issuesEnsuring appropriate audit trails, segregation of duties and cross-checking processes to meet audit requirementsKnowledge and Experience - Required:Bachelor of Accounting/Commerce/Business or similar degreeMinimum of 3-5 years commercial experience in similar roleProject Accounting/Management Accounting experienceDemonstrated high level experience in analyzing complex business and accounting problems and developing solutions to such problemsDemonstrated experience in a managerial and financial accounting environment using integrated/interfaced computerized financial systemsKnowledge and Experience - Desired:Proven financial, management and reporting skillsAdvanced understanding of integrated computerized financial systemsWorking knowledge of SAP ERP system desirableIntermediate skills using Microsoft Office suiteCommitment to continuous improvement and further development of skillsWell-developed analytical and financial modelling skillsStrong verbal and written communication and presentation skillsStrong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skillsHigh degree of accuracy and attention to detailAbility to set and meet deadlinesWillingness and ability to work in a team environment or work independently as required
