OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated GIS Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a key role in supporting our clients with their geospatial data needs, from data acquisition and analysis to creating impactful visualizations and reports.
JOB PURPOSE:
The GIS Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to geospatial data management, analysis, and visualization. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams and clients to understand their needs and develop solutions using GIS technology.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Management:
Acquire geospatial data from various sources (e.g., government agencies, open data platforms).
Clean, organize, and maintain geospatial data in a consistent and efficient manner.
Develop and implement data quality control procedures.
Document and create metadata for geospatial datasets.
Data Analysis and Visualization:
Perform spatial analysis using GIS software to answer specific client questions and solve problems.
Develop thematic maps, charts, and other visualizations that effectively communicate complex information.
Utilize cartographic principles to create visually appealing and informative maps.
Project Support:
Collaborate with project teams to understand their GIS needs and develop solutions.
Assist with the development of project proposals and reports that incorporate geospatial data.
Provide technical support and guidance on GIS-related issues.
Technology and Innovation:
Stay up-to-date on the latest GIS technologies and trends.
Research and evaluate new GIS software and tools to improve efficiency and capabilities.
Explore and implement innovative approaches to using GIS for client projects.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, QGIS).
Strong understanding of geospatial data concepts and principles.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
