Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geologist to join our clients dynamic team in the oil and gas industry. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in exploring, analysing, and interpreting geological data to support oil and gas exploration, development, and production. Key Responsibilities : Exploration & Data Analysis: Conduct geological surveys, field studies, and sampling to identify potential oil and gas reserves. Analyse and interpret subsurface data, including seismic and well-logging information. Create detailed geological models to support exploration and development planning. Resource Estimation: Evaluate the size, quality, and economic viability of hydrocarbon reserves. Provide recommendations on drilling locations and reservoir management strategies. Collaboration & Reporting: Work closely with geophysicists, engineers, and other team members to integrate geological findings into broader project plans. Prepare detailed geological reports, maps, and presentations for stakeholders. Communicate findings effectively to multidisciplinary teams and management. Operational Support: Provide on-site geological support during drilling operations, ensuring alignment with project objectives. Monitor and analyze drilling results to refine geological models and adjust strategies as needed. Compliance & Sustainability: Ensure all geological activities adhere to local, national, and international regulations. Promote environmentally responsible practices in exploration and development activities. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelors degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field (a Masters degree is advantageous). Minimum of 5 years of experience as a geologist in the oil and gas industry. Proficient in geological modeling software and tools (e.g., Petrel, ArcGIS). Strong understanding of South African geological formations and hydrocarbon systems. Knowledge of drilling operations and well-site geology is preferred. Skills & Competencies: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Attention to detail and ability to interpret complex geological data. Adaptability to work in challenging and remote field environments. Proficiency in preparing technical reports and documentation.
