General Site ManagerThe General Site Manager will direct and control all business activities relating to a specific manufacturing site, from sourcing and managing raw materials through to the manufacturing process, quality control, warehousing, and final distribution to the Company's customer base.Take responsibility for related Admin, HR, IR, Maintenance, Asset Management, Risk Management, Facilities Management, Health and Safety, as well as Site Security.Develop annual site budgets and take responsibility/accountability for the management and control of all site costs. Plan and direct all site activities through effective engagement and planning with your Management team.Overall responsibility for managing plant, premises and building facilities, and continuous improvement through lean initiatives, as well as improving plant efficiencies. This includes managing the workforce, maintaining discipline, as well as developing staff and building a dynamic team. Provide training and ensure multiskilling of staff and manage operational risk, and provide and maintain a secure and safe working environment.Qualifications RequiredRelevant Bachelor's Degree (3 years) / NQF level 7Minimum of 10 years' experienceMust have manufacturing experienceFurniture Manufacturing experience is a mustKey ResponsibilitiesManage, oversee and coordinate plant efficiencies to ensure they are maximized, and that daily production plans are completed while maintaining quality standards.Manage the on-time ordering and receiving of raw materials, and maintain an accurate stock control system.Manage on-time delivery of planned orders/loads, and ensure subcontractors are managed according to their agreed SLA's.Manage outstanding PODs within 60 days to approved level.Manage maintenance infrastructure and ensure a preventative maintenance plan is in place to keep machine downtime to less than 2% of operating hours.Manage and coordinate all offsite warehousing requirements.Manage the security infrastructure of the business, safety of staff, plant, and assets.Lead the operational human capital interventions of the assigned business.Identify projects that would enhance the performance of the operation.Show year-on-year improvement on efficiencies by applying Lean techniques and plant redesign and layout improvements, as well as ongoing training and upskilling of staff.Provide budgets for wage and salary staff and for manufacturing and distribution expenses.Coordinate safety or regulatory compliance activities with zero findings.Measure site sales and profitability.Monitor, track and report on injury rates, RM and Finished Goods value, loss time on plant, and utilisation.Ensure Health & Safety rules and regulations are adhered to and take corrective or disciplinary action where necessary.Strive to be a world-class manufacturing facility.Other SkillsAbility to work under pressureAccountable for one's actionsDiplomatic and AssertiveCreate a united and disciplined workforceAbility to handle a large workforce of over 800 employeesOther RequirementsDrivers LicenceOwn vehicle
