WHO ARE WE: A leading manufacturing business in Africa.WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR: A General Manager (Operations) to be based in Zambia who has previously worked within the African market.WHAT WILL YOU DO:Directly responsible for developing and executing the internal operational strategies necessary to achieve the goals and objectives of the organisation. The GM will ensure the internal daily planning, implementation, monitoring and management of the organisation to bring better controls and efficiency to reduce wastages.Directly supervise organisational administrators and staff and will serve a variety of roles and responsibilities when critical positions are vacant.Manage and coordinate with heads of following functions to execute business strategy and revenue commitments:Production and plant operationsQuality FinanceResponsibilities:Develop and implement operational strategies that align with departmental and company goalsOversee all aspects of the operations, including production, inventory management, quality control and logisticsIdentify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and productivityEnsure compliance with all safety regulations and quality standardsAnalyse operational data and reports to identify trends and opportunities for improvementBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholdersManage and mitigate operational risks and challengesStay informed of industry trends and best practicesEvaluate and implement performance indicators for each function to plug revenue/cost leakages and Improve efficiencyProvide day-to-day operational leadership and guidance to senior management team (functional leaders/heads) and deliver solutions to complex problems by breaking down complicated issuesCoordinate and manage all day-to-day business operations and administrative decisions for the organisationMaximising productivity to ensure daily production targets are metImproving efficiency of plant operations while maintaining high quality production standardsSupport MD/COO and Directors with strategic inputs on business growth (current and future) and help define and implement operational policies and proceduresWorks with certain board committees/teams related to operations and helps manage expectations, in order to meet organisational goalsExecuting the strategic plan for the organisation and has on-going strategic conversations and collaboration to MD/COO and Directors with regular data and reportingMonitors monthly financial reports to identify revenue/cost leakages and define improvement matrix for establishing controlEnsure the development of the company's human capital by selecting qualified candidates and by providing the necessary training and resourcesResponsible for input and developing best practices for Human Resources and related functions listed, but not limited to, HR policies, procedures, documentation, organisation culture, employee accountability, performance measures and evaluationsInitiates and implements process improvement strategies relating to workflow across functionsWorks with the MD/COO and board in the planning and formulation of the long-term goals of the organisationProvides timely, accurate, and complete reports to the MD/COO on agency performance and yields input from him when compiling informationEnsures all programmes and departments meet the short-term and long-term plans and budgets based on defined business goals and growth objectives as determined by MD/COOWHAT DO YOU NEED:Bachelor's degree in business administration, perations, or closely related field which will provide knowledge of the principles, practices and administration of FMCG business15+ years or the equivalent in experience of dairy /beverage's work experience, directly involved with production, operations, business, development, finance, or related areaMinimum 3 years Africa/ International work experience requiredEstablished understanding of operations (Sales/Marketing/Production)
