General Manager: Logistics

The GM Logistics function is to establish and manage a world class Fleet and Logistics operation that services the mining industry.

Working closely with the CEO of the Group, the role is accountable for the planning, organising, managing and evaluation of the logistics operations.

Outputs include:
Design, establish and embed effective and efficient integrated Fleet Management and Logistics structures, policies, plans and governance structures
Set goals and standards for the Fleet Management and Logistics Department to support the business plans
Plan and utilise the available skills and equipment sets for maximum effectiveness and productivity
Managing a team of specialists to ensure accurate transportation and delivery of mining products to clients.
Manage proposals, communication, service providers, projects, budgets, resourcing, roll-out and change management.
Ensure compliance to all relevant legislation applicable to Fleet Management and Logistics
Collaboratively develop the tactical strategy for the disciplines (Operations and Workshop) in the portfolio
Provide a business performance management framework (information, processes, roles and responsibilities) which ensures issues are highlighted and actions are taken as required
Take a strategic view of the value chain to ensure the Business Unit is optimally integrated and aligned and optimised within the Group Company's operating context
Forecast, secure and manage the budget as per Delegation of Authority
Manage relationships with stakeholders to enable optimisation of the business value chain.

Experience and Qualifications:
Relevant diploma,
7-10 years' relevant experience
5 years' experience of senior management
Working knowledge of the relevant bargaining council for the road freight and logistics industry
Logistical experience within mining is advantageous
