General Manager: Logistics

The GM Logistics function is to establish and manage a world class Fleet and Logistics operation that services the mining industry.
Working closely with the CEO of the Group, the role is accountable for the planning, organising, managing and evaluation of the logistics operations.
Outputs include:Design, establish and embed effective and efficient integrated Fleet Management and Logistics structures, policies, plans and governance structuresSet goals and standards for the Fleet Management and Logistics Department to support the business plansPlan and utilise the available skills and equipment sets for maximum effectiveness and productivityManaging a team of specialists to ensure accurate transportation and delivery of mining products to clients.
Manage proposals, communication, service providers, projects, budgets, resourcing, roll-out and change management.Ensure compliance to all relevant legislation applicable to Fleet Management and LogisticsCollaboratively develop the tactical strategy for the disciplines (Operations and Workshop) in the portfolioProvide a business performance management framework (information, processes, roles and responsibilities) which ensures issues are highlighted and actions are taken as requiredTake a strategic view of the value chain to ensure the Business Unit is optimally integrated and aligned and optimised within the Group Company's operating contextForecast, secure and manage the budget as per Delegation of AuthorityManage relationships with stakeholders to enable optimisation of the business value chain.Experience and Qualifications:Relevant diploma,7-10 years' relevant experience5 years' experience of senior managementWorking knowledge of the relevant bargaining council for the road freight and logistics industryLogistical experience within mining is advantageous This role will suit an experienced logistics manager that also has a visionary mindset, someone who is interested in continuous improvement, growing the business and working alongside senior management to develop an excellent service that meets the growing demand.This role is based in Middelburg.
