The primary objective of the General Manager position is to serve as a key representative of the company, entrusted with making and executing strategic decisions across all aspects of planning, directing, and coordinating the assigned division.
This dynamic role requires the General Manager to directly report to the Managing Director, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and vision.
Synopsis: Oversee the operational, financial, and legal affairs of the Gauteng Division.Manage and maintain assets.Oversee all personnel and related functions.Administer all aspects of the division.Provide effective leadership to ensure the staff functions as a committed and effective team in alignment with the company's vision, mission, goals, and values.Lead efforts to maintain a productive, cost-effective, safe, and legally compliant workplace.
Must have responsibilities: A relevant tertiary qualification (3-year degree/diploma/NQF Level 6).A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position as a General Manager within the material handling or a similar industry, which will be highly advantageous.Comprehensive knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, and leadership techniques to best position the division or branch.Understanding of laws, legal codes, precedents, and government processes that impact the company's and clients' industries and business operations.Expertise in principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems.Proficiency in principles and methods for promoting and selling products or services, including marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques, and sales control systems.Solid knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data, including the compilation of budgets, balance sheets, income statements, and forecasts.Awareness of relevant public safety and security policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective security operations for the protection of people and property.Familiarity with quality control processes, cost management, and other techniques for maximizing the effective storage and distribution of products (equipment and parts).Proficiency in the English language for business communication.
