Job DescriptionThis position supports the overall Fundraising and Marketing strategy by executing and monitoring fundraising efforts. The role involves collaborating with executive management to conceptualize the MES strategy and providing specialist input in Fundraising and Marketing. The individual will lead and manage the Fundraising and Marketing division, implementing stewardship strategies for all donors to recognize their contributions and encourage continued support for MES.Responsibilities include managing day-to-day Fundraising and Marketing operations to ensure sustainability and visibility of MES work. The individual will manage team performance by setting and monitoring clear targets for each team member while collaborating with other departments for relevant input.This position is based at MES Head Office – Johannesburg (Hillbrow).Duties & ResponsibilitiesKEY PERFORMANCESManaging and diversifying current fundraising strategies, ensuring effective utilization of Salesforce to maximize income and loyalty.Analyzing fundraising programs and trends for effective investment across all channels.Drafting and coordinating all funding proposals nationally and internationally.Leading and facilitating the proposal development and writing process.Collaborating with executive management to identify fundraising/business development opportunities.Developing and maintaining relationships with current and potential donors.Identifying new fundraising opportunities and assessing their viability.Ensuring timely production and submission of high-quality proposals to potential donors.Regularly meeting with prospective and existing donors to foster relationships.Ensuring funds are raised as per the approved annual budget.PR and MarketingEnsuring marketing material is developed and up to date.Managing major Marketing and Fundraising events for brand awareness and promotion.Identifying networking opportunities through events and conferences.Generating relevant content and optimizing social media and online channels for MES.Exploring partnership opportunities for brand awareness.Donor Management and RelationshipsDeveloping and nurturing donor relationships.Identifying and cultivating prospective donors.Providing signed donor SLA for compliance monitoring.Leading donor engagement and communication during the SLA period.Maintaining constant communication with donors through a quarterly newsletter.Managing and developing staff according to HR policies.Conducting training to develop fundraising capacity.Supervising Fundraising and Marketing staff.Budgeting and PlanningPlanning and developing fundraising business plans for accurate budgeting.Compiling annual income budget per Branch and Programme.Setting clear fundraising targets for the division and team members.Monitoring progress and providing feedback to executive management.Using up-to-date information for budgeting and proposal submissions.Producing monthly income forecasts with the Finance Manager.Desired Experience & QualificationSPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREDFundraising and Marketing expertise.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Advanced writing, reporting, and presentation skills.Monitoring & Evaluation knowledge.Understanding of Salesforce or database systems.Driver's License & own transport.PR and Communication skills.REQUIREMENTSMatric.Degree or equivalent in Marketing, Development Finance, Fundraising, Sales, or PR.At least 7 years' experience in NGO/NPO fundraising and Marketing, with 3 years at the management level.Ability to work with senior management or a Board of directors.Ability to provide strategic input and set clear goals for the division.Experience in leading business planning and proposal development.
