Job Description We are looking for a Fund/Scheme Accountant to join the OMIA UT Banking team, specifically dealing with Old Mutual Unit Trust (OMUT) and Strategic Investment Services (SIS), within Old Mutual Investment Administrators (Pty) Ltd (OMIA). The team is responsible for maintaining the accounting records and related financial reporting for various funds. The accountant's role is to ensure accuracy, validity and completeness of the funds' accounting records and related reporting.
Role Description & Key Result Areas: Management accounting services and systems: Ensure that the month end reports are accurately and timeously produced. Ensure that all cashbook and bank statement transactions are accurately reflected in the bank recons.Maintenance and reconciliation of bank accounts, addressing technical issues and problems arising.Preparation of monthly financial packs for the management companies and regulatory reporting.Ensure stakeholders are provided with necessary information on time.Ensure that all month end deadlines and SLA requirements are met.Manages daily queries and communication with all third parties.Review of the bank reconciliations.Review checks related to market instructions and resulting money movement.Responsible for review and clearing of items on control accounts.Responsible for new, complex and varied reconciliations with little input required.Responsible for testing of fund launch / bank accounts mapping and various inputs to all projects (where required).Liaise with auditors and preparations of audit working papers.Preparation of monthly and year end distributions – money market funds, priced funds and commission payments.Prepares and/or monitors PAYE, Dividend and Income Tax payments within business units monthly and reviews all PAYE & Dividend Tax reports (where applicable).Expect to work outside Old Mutual core hours.Reporting, planning, analyse and interpret data to management: Responsible for monthly reporting on Unit Trust Retirement Funds member balances to the OMUT management company and other statutory reporting.Responsible for quarterly Section 95 And Circular 15 of CISCA reporting.Responsible for tax payments and reconciliations – WTI & DWT.Relationship building: Assist with building and maintaining a unified and sound team.Assist with building working relationships across lines of business and with 3rd parties to achieve service excellence and effective resolution of problems.Personal Effectiveness: Delivery through own efforts and through others.Collaborates effectively with others to achieve personal results.Accepts and lives the company values.Strong analytical skills.Role Requirement: Tertiary qualification or BCom/equivalent degree required.Min 5 years Financial Services experience and Sound business knowledge.Computer literacy – MS Office and Advanced Excel required.Advantage - Working knowledge of the Unit Trust and Wealth business model and related systems infrastructures.Working under pressure.Multi-tasking and strong attention to detail.Excellent teamwork and ability to create a positive culture.A self-starter that takes accountability and drives desired business outcomes.Excellent written and communication skills.Advantage – Bank Reconciliation, Reporting and Fund Distribution.Advantage – FinSwitch and SARS eFiling.Competencies: StrategicInnovationCustomer FirstLeading with InfluenceCollaborationExecutionPersonal MasterySkills: Accounting SystemAdvanced Microsoft Excel SkillsData InterpretationsData ManagementMicrosoft ExcelMonthly ReportingRelationship BuildingEducation: Bachelor of Commerce (BComm) (Required)
