Role OverviewThe Incumbent of the role will be responsible for monthly and quarterly management of accounts, annual financial statements, and controlling costs. The Fund Accountant will support the Manager Accounts to meet service level agreements and deadlines.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesMonthly Accounting Work Upload bank statements into the admin systemPrepare monthly and quarterly management accountsManage and meet deadlines (monthly, quarterly, and annual processes)Prepare monthly ALMs on all management accountsPrepare quarterly SARB reportsEnsure timely payment of fund invoicesPrepare annual financial statements for active and termination fundsCompile annual audit files for stand-alone funds/consolidation and prepare working papers for umbrella funds, including financial statementsAssist with annual Regulation 28 reportsResolve queries (audit, actuarial, and Trustee) within stipulated turnaround timesAdhere to processes and procedures within the fund accounting teamMaintain and adhere to annual plannersControlling Costs Avoid audit overrunsNote: Based on years of experience, additional tasks can be allocated as required by the business, which may include checking of reports.
QualificationsMatric/Grade 12BCom or studying towards a BCom degree or a relevant accounting diploma/qualificationExperienceAt least 1 - 5 years' experience in retirement fund accounting is advantageous (depending on role requirements).
Skills RequiredKnowledge of accounting policies, systems, procedures, and Generally Accepted Accounting PracticeUnderstanding of Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) requirementsUnderstanding of South African Reserve Bank (SARB) requirementsKnowledge of segregated investments and disclosure on annual financial statementsAbility to correspond/communicate with auditors, consultants, and actuariesUnderstanding the purpose, background, and policies of the organisationAbility to work effectively as a team playerStrong communication and listening skills, with the ability to relate to people from diverse backgroundsComputer skills, including proficiency in Excel and relevant software such as spreadsheets and PowerPointThe NMG SA Group of Companies are authorised financial service providers t/a NMG Benefits.
