DESCRIPTION We are looking for a talented Functional Excellence Manager – Finance to join our team specializing in Finance for our Corporate Segment in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Enhancing Functional Effectiveness: You'll manage and improve the overall effectiveness of one or more functions, ensuring they align with end-to-end value stream performance goals.
Driving Improvement Activities: By partnering with various stakeholders, you'll drive improvement activities within the function to meet performance objectives and enhance customer outcomes.
Industry Connectivity: Staying connected with relevant industries, you'll support the function's advancement and position the company for sustainability and growth.
Setting Functional Maturity Goals: You'll coordinate the creation of functional maturity goals in collaboration with business leaders and process owners, ensuring alignment with the company's strategic objectives.
Managing Performance Metrics: You'll oversee performance metrics that contribute to the goals of internal value chains or end-to-end processes, ensuring continuous improvement.
Governance Coordination: By coordinating enterprise-level governance of functional processes, systems, and data, you'll support the overall end-to-end framework.
Supporting Talent Development: You'll contribute to functional talent activities, including developing global position profiles, competencies, and learning strategies to foster growth and development.
Identifying Growth Opportunities: Utilizing your business knowledge and experience, you'll identify growth opportunities to improve customer outcomes and drive the function's success.
RESPONSIBILITIES To be successful in this role you will need the following: Process Optimization Skills: Ability to identify and implement the most effective and efficient processes, with a strong focus on continuous improvement and standardization across critical processes.
Complexity Management: Proficiency in making sense of complex, high-volume, and sometimes contradictory information to solve problems effectively, ensuring smooth closings and clean balance sheets.
Strong Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to onboard new controllers and senior finance staff, coach and mentor team members, and maintain clear and consistent reporting and documentation.
Robust Control and Compliance Management: Expertise in establishing and maintaining strong controls, tracking control remediations, and ensuring timely statutory filings and adherence to best practices across all entities.
QUALIFICATIONS Education/ Experience: Significant relevant experience required, including managerial experience.
Experience leading strategic and change efforts within a function or business unit; and the ability to make and drive connections across relevant work streams.
Solid communication and stakeholder management skills, as well as ability to work comfortably amidst ambiguity important for success in this role.
