Job Summary CIB Front Office is looking for a Front Office Technical Analyst. This is a line role within the Front Office Technical Analysts (FOTA) space, which is part of CIB Markets. One of the key functions of the role is to ensure that trading PnL is fully substantiated and explained by attributing the Profit & Loss into the Greeks as well as understanding any new positions or edits and by comparing this to trader flash. This is a daily function, with more emphasis in Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange Markets and Money Markets.
Job Description Key Accountabilities Accountability: General control (40%) Explain new deal and total PnL and justify material unexplained.Perform deal review and amendments as requested.Follow proper procedure to implement new curves and valuation static.Monitor and investigate differences between valuation system and attribution, assisting the Front Office to ensure deals are meticulously managed without incurring any operation loss events.Review valuation exceptions in the market map report. Accountability: Working directly with Front Office (30%) First point of contact for FO to investigate causes of valuation errors, anomalies in position risk, cash flow management queries and assisting traders to terminate trades.Assess and notify Front Office of economic impact of changes in valuation static and amends.Participate in pre-implementation meetings pertaining to new deals or existing deals being restructured as support to the Front Office.Book trades into Simulated status as requested by Front Office on an ad hoc basis, ensuring the trades are in line with legal requirements.Proactively assist the trader to manage deal milestones and ensuring applicable trackers and check lists are adhered to.Where required liaise with upstream/downstream parties to resolve queries, working jointly with specialist teams e.g. Tax and Legal.Adhoc MI – prepare and provide relevant information as and when requested by Front Office, and other functional units. Accountability: Staff development (30%) Develop own knowledge of the valuation systems and PLE logic.Know the intimate details of the products we trade.Develop a bridging relationship between FO, PCG, Ops, IT and other support areas.Develop soft communication abilities and be able to explain difficult concepts with regards to trader strategies and the greeks to non-Front Office staff.Proactively investigate new and better ways to enhance the trade management environment by regularly evaluating the effectiveness of all procedures and controls. Role Specification Education and Experience Required Knowledge & Skills: (Maximum of 6) 2-5 years banking experience preferably in the Global Markets space.4 year plus degree in Business or Finance, or if another financial/accounting degree complemented with CFA or FRM.Ability to code in VBA, Python or any other language is an advantage. Competencies: (Maximum of 8 competencies) Analytical abilities with strong detail orientation.An understanding of deal flow processes and rationale behind the procedures.Control mindset.Problem solving/decision making ability, including an ability to challenge current thinking/processes and ability to provide solutions.Team motivation and inspiration.Team player/flexibility.Business acumen and market awareness.Client service driven with good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and work at all levels (including a range of demanding personalities) in an unstructured environment (service, resilience and flexibility).
