An Automotive client in Gqeberha is looking for a Foundry Manager to join their dynamic team The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the entire foundry and melting processes, ensuring efficient production, adherence to quality standards, and the continuous improvement of operations. The role requires a strong background in foundry management, a solid understanding of engineering and production processes, and proven leadership experience within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have 10 years of foundry/melting experience and at least 5 years in a supervisory role. Key Responsibilities: Foundry Operations Management : Oversee and manage all aspects of the foundry operations, including metal pouring, moulding, and casting processes. Ensure all production schedules are met while maintaining high standards of quality. Production Efficiency & Continuous Improvement : Monitor and optimize the performance of foundry equipment, reduce downtime, and ensure optimal usage of materials and labor. Implement lean manufacturing principles and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste. Team Leadership & Supervision : Lead, mentor, and develop a team of foundry staff, including technicians and operators. Ensure proper training and skill development to maintain high performance levels. Foster a safety-conscious work environment and ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols. Quality Control & Compliance : Ensure that foundry products meet the required specifications and quality standards. Implement corrective actions as needed to resolve any non-conformance issues. Ensure adherence to both internal quality standards and external industry regulations. Process & Technology Innovation : Stay updated with new technologies, methods, and trends in the foundry industry. Evaluate and implement innovative technologies and equipment to improve the foundry's performance and reduce operational costs. Budgeting & Cost Control : Manage the foundry budget, ensuring that operations are conducted within financial targets. Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining product quality and safety. Health & Safety Management : Ensure strict adherence to workplace safety standards, regulatory compliance, and environmental guidelines. Conduct safety audits and provide regular safety training to staff. Required Qualifications and Experience: Tertiary Education : A minimum of NQF Level 6 qualification in Production, Engineering, or Quality Management. A qualified artisan is beneficial but must meet the educational requirements as well. Foundry/Melting Experience : At least 10 years of hands-on experience in foundry operations and metal melting processes, with a comprehensive understanding of casting, moulding, and metal treatment procedures. Supervisory Experience : A minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory or managerial position within a manufacturing environment, with a proven track record of leading teams and driving operational efficiency. Industry Knowledge : In-depth knowledge of foundry technologies, machinery, and casting processes, specifically in the automotive manufacturing sector. Experience with high-pressure die casting, sand casting, and investment casting is a plus. Problem-Solving & Decision-Making Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to make data-driven decisions under pressure. Leadership & Communication : Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to motivate, manage, and develop teams to achieve high performance and ensure continuous improvement. Preferred Skills and Attributes: Experience with lean manufacturing principles and techniques. Familiarity with advanced automation in foundry operations.
