Job title: Food TechnologistOverview: Our client is seeking a dedicated Senior Food Technologist to join their Technical Department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring food safety and quality of all products supplied by the company.
This role involves overseeing product evaluation, conducting audits, managing product control systems, and ensuring compliance with local and international standards.Key Responsibilities:Product Evaluation:Manage weekly QC tastings, record findings, and provide feedback on non-conformances.
Ensure timely corrective actions are taken.Audits:Conduct monthly internal audits on hygiene and maintenance, supplier audits, and process audits to ensure compliance.
Manage corrective actions and verify completion through visual inspections.Product and Control Systems:Perform regular checks on product and factory processes.
Ensure compliance with food safety management systems and local and international regulations.
Manage non-conformances related to sub-standard ingredients and packaging.Cleaning and Hygiene:Oversee weekly deep cleaning procedures and ensure all hygiene standards are met.
Conduct spot checks on chemical usage and compliance.Traceability and Compliance:Maintain full traceability for all packaging and chemicals.
Conduct mock recalls and ensure traceability compliance.Microbiological Monitoring:Execute monthly and weekly swabs to monitor hygiene standards.Training and Development:Develop and conduct in-house training schedules and facilitate outsourced training as required.
Ensure all staff are competent and adhere to the company's food safety and quality standards.General Support:Assist in project trials, SOP development, and completion of COAs/COCs as required.
Participate in weekly QC meetings and manage non-conformance reports.Health and Safety:Adhere to all health and safety regulations and ensure a safe working environment.Requirements:Relevant degree in Food Technology or related field.Proven experience in a senior food technologist role, preferably within the food production industry.Strong understanding of food safety and quality standards.Excellent auditing and training skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Location: Franschhoek.Salary offered: R25 000-R30 000 CTC per month, depending on experience.Type: Full time permanent position.
