Position: Food Safety CoordinatorLocation: Epping, Cape Town.Reporting to: Quality Assurance ManagerPosition Summary:We are looking for a Food Safety Coordinator who will be responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Manager in ensuring that the company is compliant with food and safety regulatory requirements as well as standards. By following all food safety rules, guidelines, and law as mandated by the government.Job Purpose:This individual will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's food safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.Key Duties/Responsibilities:Effectively monitor and improve the Food Safety Management SystemConduct food safety audits and food safety inspectionsUpdate and maintain systems registers, records, and documentationMaintain good manufacturing practices, product specifications, supplier certificates, etc.Keep record of weekly follow-up on good manufacturing practices (GMP) inspectionsArrange food safety and sustainability meetings in collaboration with the QA managerKeeping updated records of local and international related acts, regulations, and standards to ensure complianceAdminister the Supply Management System concerning Food Safety; and collaboration with Health & Safety and FinanceAdminister the Corrective and Preventative Action System and do regular follow-upsConduct internal and external supplier auditsAssisting with preparation for customer auditsRespond to customer enquiriesAssist QA Manager in implementing and overseeing a comprehensive sanitation/hygiene validation programTraining programme of food safety regulationsOversee and assist QA Manager in conducting all applicable training to employees on food safety regulations and processesAssist with Export Documentation (Packing list, Health Certificates, etc.)Assist our customers with their visitation of our operationsConduct Food Safety investigations and recommend corrective actionsAssist with new product developmentAssist with maintaining company procedures and policiesRequired Qualifications and Experience:Degree in Food Science or a closely related field.Minimum of 1 year experience in a food safety role,In-depth knowledge of food safety legislation relevant to South Africa.Required Skills and Knowledge:Strong analytical skills with proficiency in MS Access, MS Excel (including data analysis and simulation), and basic understanding of operational research principlesExcellent computer literacy with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software programsExcellent communication skillsProblem-solving skillsInterpersonal skills, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong attention to detailCommitment to quality standardsValid South African driver's licenseShould you meet the requirements and would like to apply, please share your CV on ******, and we will review your application.
