At UCOOK we create 28 new meal kit recipes (dinners and lunch) for our customers to choose from each week, and we deliver fresh, locally-sourced and ethical pre-portioned ingredients to their door. Additionally we deliver frozen meals, desserts, kids meals and baby food.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Food Product Developer will be part of the innovative, collaborative Food Team and holds the responsibility of ensuring each KPI detailed below is managed and met on a weekly basis. The candidate is required to work cross-functionally with Procurement, Technical, Operations, Marketing, BI and Tech teams.
KPIs WITHIN THIS ROLE
1. Meal Kit Recipe development
Keep abreast of new concepts, trends and market activity
Brainstorming and ideation of recipes
Costing recipes and ensuring they deliver to value and are kept within budget
Writing recipes and adhering to standard methods, delivering instructions that are easy to follow and simple
Testing recipes
Conducting a variety of internal Food Team documentation and adhering to weekly schedules
Participate in quality checks, sampling process and shelf life tests of new and current ingredients
Evaluating tested meals, providing feedback and problem solving in the event that they under-deliver
Updating and overviewing testing documents after testing
Copy Editing recipe cards
Addressing and actioning Copy Editor feedback on testing doc and recipe cards
Work on UCOOK software platforms (i.e Power BI, server-side software, Acumatica)
Assessment of shoot imagery; ensuring that they match the recipe instructions and/ or preparations
2. Meal Kit Menu management
Ensuring menu is balanced (in ingredient variety, cost and dish type) and costed correctly
Managing the quality, trend and style of the weekly menu
Keep abreast of new concepts, trends and market activity
Weekly management of menu handover to Procurement and Production teams
Provide problem solving / analytical skills Involvement in launching new categories; managing the deadlines, and ensuring launches are successful. Conducting post-launch reviews and retrospective reports.
3. General support to cross functional teams
Involvement in brainstorming with supplier partnerships (i.e. wine partners, marketing campaigns) Technically approve supplier specifications in collaboration with the Procurement Team
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Tertiary qualification in Food Science/ Consumer Science
Experience in product development and food manufacturing environment
Technical experience advantageous
