Food Handler

Job Purpose:The Food Handler is responsible for preparing and serving food items, ensuring that all food meets the quality standards set by the café.
The role also includes maintaining a clean and organized kitchen area, assisting with inventory management, and providing excellent customer service.Key Responsibilities:Food Preparation:Prepare food items according to the café's recipes and standards.Ensure that all food is prepared in a timely manner and meets quality standards.Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food prep areas.Customer Service:Interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner.Handle customer inquiries and special requests regarding food items.Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality food.Inventory Management:Assist in managing inventory by tracking food supplies and ingredients.Notify management when supplies are running low and assist in ordering as needed.Ensure that all food items are stored properly and safely.Cleanliness:Follow all health and safety regulations when handling food.Regularly clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas.Dispose of waste properly and ensure the kitchen meets cleanliness standards.Teamwork:Work collaboratively with other kitchen and café staff to ensure smooth operation.Assist with training new kitchen staff as needed.Communicate effectively with team members to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently.Compliance:Adhere to all company policies and procedures.Comply with all food safety and hygiene regulations.Skills and Qualifications:Previous experience in food preparation or in a similar role preferred.Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.Excellent customer service skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication and teamwork skills.Ability to stand for long periods.Basic math skills for measuring ingredients.Working Conditions:The Food Handler will work in a kitchen environment, which can be hot and noisy.May require early morning, late evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.Physical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.Standing for extended periods.Education:High school diploma or equivalent.Experience:Experience in a food service environment preferred.
