They are seeking to employ a dynamic and experienced Production Manager to join their small team and lead their culinary and operational efforts.The Food Factory Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the food production facility. This includes managing production schedules, managing suppliers and procurement of ingredients and ensuring product quality and compliance with safety standards, optimising workflow, and leading a team of production staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food manufacturing, exceptional organisational skills, be computer literate and the ability to lead and motivate a team. Key Responsibilities:Production Planning and Management:Develop and implement production schedulesMonitor production processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with company standardsCoordinate with the procurement team to ensure the availability of raw materialsAdjust production schedules as needed to accommodate changes in order volume or product specificationsQuality Control:Ensure all products meet company and regulatory quality standardsImplement and oversee quality control procedures and protocolsConduct regular inspections and audits of production processes and finished productsAddress and resolve any quality issues that ariseTeam Leadership and Development:Supervise, train, and evaluate production staff, including line supervisors, machine operators, and other production workersFoster a positive and productive work environmentAddress employee performance issues and implement corrective actions when necessaryPromote continuous improvement and staff development through training programs and workshopsSafety and Compliance:Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulationsDevelop and enforce safety protocols and emergency response proceduresConduct regular safety meetings and training sessionsInvestigate and report any accidents or incidentsProcess Optimization:Analyse production data and metrics to identify areas for improvementImplement lean manufacturing practices and other efficiency-enhancing methodologiesCollaborate with maintenance staff to ensure equipment is properly maintained and functioning optimallyDrive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safetyInventory and Supply Chain Management:Manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situationsWork with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materialsImplement and oversee inventory control systemsEnsure efficient product distributionReporting and Documentation:Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, quality metrics, and other key indicatorsMaintain accurate records of production activities, inventory levels, and personnelEnsure all documentation complies with regulatory requirements and company policiesQualifications required:Degree or diploma in Food Science, Engineering, Business Management, or a related fieldMinimum of 5 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management roleStrong knowledge of food safety standards and regulations (e.g., HACCP, FSSC22000)Proven experience in production planning, quality control, and process optimisationExcellent leadership and team management skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesExceptional communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency in production management software and Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Based in Somerset West, Helderberg Personnel was establishedin 1998.
