The company services the retail and hospitality sectors across South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa through a national distribution network.The DC Manager will oversee all distribution operations at the Wynberg, Johannesburg facility. The role ensures the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while maintaining operational excellence to support the companys service guarantee. The DC Manager will lead a team, manage logistics, and implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance productivity, accuracy, and client satisfaction.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational ManagementOversee daily operations of the Distribution Centre, including inbound and outbound logistics.Ensure accurate inventory management, including stock rotation, cycle counting, and minimizing stock discrepancies.Coordinate order processing, picking, packing, and dispatching to meet delivery deadlines.Monitor and optimize warehouse space utilization.Ensure adherence to company policies, including health and safety standards.Team LeadershipLead, manage, and develop a team of warehouse staff and drivers.Set performance goals and conduct regular performance reviews.Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team skills.Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.Logistics and Fleet ManagementOversee fleet management to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries.Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.Develop and maintain efficient delivery routes to meet customer service expectations.Customer ServiceCollaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address client requirements and resolve delivery issues promptly.Ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment to maintain high customer satisfaction levels.Continuous ImprovementAnalyze key performance metrics and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.Drive cost-saving initiatives while maintaining service quality.Implement and maintain warehouse management systems (WMS) and other technologies.Reporting and CompliancePrepare regular reports on operational performance, including inventory levels, order fulfilment, and delivery timelines.Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including occupational health and safety standards.Conduct audits and implement corrective actions to maintain operational integrity.Qualifications and ExperienceEssentialBachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role within a fast-paced distribution environment.Proven experience in managing warehouse operations and logistics.Strong leadership skills with experience managing and motivating teams.Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.PreferredExperience in the food and beverage industry.Knowledge of import/export logistics and regulations.Familiarity with Italian food products and beverages is an advantage.Skills and CompetenciesExcellent organizational and time-management skills.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.High attention to detail and accuracy.Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to service excellence.Ability to implement and manage change effectively.
