This role is office based in Cape Town and will generally have normal working hours, except for occasions when overtime work may be required.KEY ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIESAssist in the Flight Dispatch processFiling of FPL (inter-continental)Facilitate in passenger and cargo manifestFlight monitoringGround operations co-ordination at the airportEnsuring all elements of the flight at the airport come together for a successful launchChecking the planned payload figures of passengers, bags and cargoCommunicating with the various departments within the airport to arrange for airport services such as fueling and ground handlingAntarctica Weather forecasting, decoding and disseminatingAssist in the development and documentation of operational proceduresGENERALThe above outlines the primary responsibilities for the role, is not exhaustive and may be changed at any time, dependent upon the operational requirements of White Desert Africa and within the parameters of the position.From time to time, the performance of duties outside the sphere of this job description will be required, as and when necessary, dependent upon the operational requirements of White Desert.In addition, there is an all-embracing expectation that each team member will work collaboratively within the team framework and that each team member is responsible for maintaining a supportive environment in line with the White Desert ethos.REPORTING ARRANGEMENTSThis role reports to the Flight Operations Manager.CANDIDATE SPECIFICATIONSQualifications: Entry level ATS/ PPL/ Airport Ground Operations type knowledge (which includes air traffic services, air law, meteorology forecasting processes, navigation, flight planning, NOTAM).Understanding of DGAirport ground handling / services knowledgeFlight planningUnderstanding of Slots and CTOTsPractical experience of the above – min. 2 yearsExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishProficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Outlook, in particular – experience with Apple Mac will be advantageous)REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEProactive with strong organising skills, team-oriented, flexible approach and able to provide solid results under high pressureAbility to cope with heavy workloadHigh attention to detailAble to prioritise multiple tasksThis is a 4 to 6 month contract role, with no offer of permanency.
