A challenging and exciting career opportunity exists for a Fleet Services Manager within a dynamic and fast-growing company in the fruit/packing industry. We are situated in Vyeboom, Western Cape.
We are seeking an experienced and self-driven Fleet Service Manager to oversee the effective functioning, optimization and sustainability of the company's fleet, trailed equipment and farming implements. This role will ensure that work is delivered on time, complies with all legal requirements whilst collaborating with stakeholders to implement best practices in fleet management to maintain longevity of all relevant equipment. The candidate will also be responsible for managing a small team associated to the required outputs.
The position will be reporting to the Packhouse Services Manager within the operations department. The successful candidate will be required to do, but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
Key Performance Areas:
Develop a vehicle replacement and preventative fleet maintenance plan in accordance with client and business needs.
Compile an annual budget for equipment purchases and repairs and monitor expenditure thereof on a regular basis.
Prepare and report monthly costs breakdowns to customers ensuring costs are correctly allocated to various departments.
Negotiate best prices for quality parts from suppliers and manage the timeous submission of invoices for payment.
Manage and schedule fleet maintenance projects according to plan and monitor their execution in line with budget, timeline, and quality in collaboration with internal and third-party stakeholders.
Coordinate the service and purchasing processes for fleet parts by liaising with internal parties in terms of dates and plans.
Coordinate maintenance requests according to priority, monitor job progress and oversee that tasks are executed in a timely manner in liaison with the service technicians and customers.
Manage and coordinate stock to be at optimal levels at all times, ensuring best practice methodologies are followed.
Monitor the company asset register and advise on equipment purchases, transfers or discard aligned to service plans.
Manage the performance, motivation, and development of staff, including time and attendance, disciplinary actions, coaching and mentoring.
Role Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualification in a technical field or engineering field / N6 and or Trade test.
At least 4 – 5 years previous workshop/service centre experience within a technical environment.
At least 5 years managerial experience within a workshop environment.
Proven track record in vehicle fleet management.
Excellent understanding of preventative maintenance methodologies and engineering principles to manage the company's fleet.
Computer literate (MS Office) and advanced Excel Skills is essential.
Must be willing to relocate and or travel as this is an on-site role.
Driver's license and own transport.
