Job Purpose:The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing all fleet operations to ensure efficiency, compliance and cost effectiveness within the 3 Distribution Centres (Pretoria, Pinetown and Cape Town). This role includes maintaining vehicles, ensuring adherence to South African road and traffic laws and managing logistics associated with the fleet.Requirements:Diploma or degree in Logistics, Transport Management or related field.Minimum of 7 years of experience in fleet or logistics management.Minimum of at least 5 years proven management experience.FMCG industry experienceFamiliarity with South African road and traffic laws, including AARTO.Experience with cross border fleet operations and relevant customs regulations.Proficiency in fleet management software.Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair.Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.Strong leadership and communication abilitiesAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines.Responsibilities:Fleet OperationsOversee the acquisition, maintenance and disposal of vehicles in the fleet, including those of the operations teams (Area Managers).Develop and implement fleet policies, procedures and standards.Monitor fuel consumption, mileage and overall vehicle efficiency.Ensure all vehicles comply with South African traffic and road safety regulations.Conduct regular inspections to maintain vehicles in optimal working conditions.Route PlanningPlan and optimize delivery routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.Ensure timely delivery of goods and services.Co-ordinate with internal departments to align fleet operations with company goals.Track and monitor driver locations and adherence to designated route plans, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries while maintaining compliance with operational standards.Manage all aspects of cross-border deliveries, including route planning, compliance with customs regulations, documentation, and coordination with relevant stakeholders to ensure timely and efficient delivery.Compliance and Risk ManagementEnsure vehicles have valid licenses, permits and insurance coverage.Manage all documentation related to AARTO, including processing fines, implementing driver deductions, and issuing warnings in accordance with regulatory and company policies.Investigate and report vehicle accidents or incidents.Cost ManagementManage fleet budget and reduce operational costsNegotiate with suppliers and vendors for vehicle parts, services Salary: RMarket Related Job Reference #: 1138827
