Job Responsibilities
Ability to work under pressure.
Risk management on and off site.
Brief Driver's on most economical routes to be taken, daily.
Communicate with all personnel to ensure smooth running of loading and offloading of trucks.
Ensure timely delivery of our products.
Act as a communicator between Driver & Client and address any issues on site with customer and/or driver.
Liaise with drivers to address any problems that may arise with deliveries.
Physically check any items returned before requesting credit notes to be passed.
Perform physical truck inspections to determine preventative maintenance, repairs, and damages, and determine if damages were caused by abuse, taking disciplinary steps against the driver if necessary.
Monitor driver abuse, wear and tear, tyre usage, and take necessary preventative actions.
Monitor full fleet diesel consumptions, including trucks, bakkies, forklifts, and yellow machines.
Attend to breakdowns and accidents, putting alternative plans in action to ensure delivery takes place to customer with minimum inconvenience.
Chair weekly toolbox talks with the team, provide advice, motivate the team, and address any concerns or problems that may arise.
Collaborate and communicate information related to shipments with relevant internal teams and customers.
Live monitoring of fleet.
Driver training and onboarding.
On 24 hours standby for drivers and in case of an accident.
Weekly debriefing of staff.
Enforce discipline and take disciplinary action against staff when needed.
Keep premises neat and clean by delegating, and ensure that yard is secured.
Perform ad hoc duties as required.
Experience & Qualification
High School Diploma or higher.
Minimum 3-year experience as a Fleet Manager in a medium to large organization.
