Flameproof Inspector

The primary purpose of this role will be to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in the inspection, testing, and certification of flameproof (explosion-proof) electrical equipment, ensuring reliability in hazardous environments.
Skills and Qualifications:Electrical or Mechanical Trade Test CertificationCertified Flameproof Inspector or equivalent qualification with 5–10 years of experience in hazardous area equipment inspection.In-depth knowledge of SANS 60079 standards, flameproof protection principles, and hazardous area classifications.Proficiency in using inspection and testing tools for flameproof equipment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail.Effective communication skills to prepare clear reports and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality excellence.Areas of Responsibility:Inspection of Flameproof EquipmentCertification and ComplianceQuality Assurance and ReportingKey Responsibilities:Conduct inspections of flameproof enclosures, including visual, dimensional, and integrity checks.Perform pressure and leakage tests as per industry and regulatory standards.Verify compliance of equipment with SANS 60079 certification requirements.Maintain detailed records of inspection and testing results.Review and validate documentation for compliance with safety and quality standards.Coordinate with certification bodies to ensure updated approvals and renewals.Ensure equipment meets quality specifications, including those for material selection, construction, and protective measures.Identify and report any non-conformities, providing recommendations for corrective actions.Work closely with production teams to verify that components meet flameproof standards.Communicate findings and recommendations effectively with Workshop Managers and Quality Teams.Support training initiatives to raise awareness of flameproof standards and compliance among staff.Ensure all testing and inspections are conducted using approved methods and equipment.Participate in improvement projects aimed at enhancing inspection techniques and equipment reliability.Stay updated on advancements in flameproof technology and incorporate best practices into operations.Ensure all inspection tools and testing equipment are calibrated and maintained.
