Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firmware and Electronic Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimising our firmware and electronic systems, contributing significantly to our cutting-edge IoT products. This role involves a blend of firmware & hardware development and electronic engineering, requiring a deep understanding of embedded systems, hardware design, and software integration.
ResponsibilitiesFirmware Development:
Design, develop, and test firmware for embedded systems in our IoT products.
Optimise firmware performance and reliability, ensuring seamless integration with hardware components.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define firmware requirements and specifications.
Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance.
Troubleshoot and resolve firmware-related issues in a timely manner.
Maintain thorough documentation of firmware design, code, and testing procedures.Electronic Engineering:
Design and develop electronic circuits and systems for IoT devices, including schematic capture and PCB layout.
Select appropriate components and materials to meet design specifications and cost constraints.
Conduct simulations and analyses to verify circuit performance and reliability.
Oversee the fabrication and assembly of prototype and production hardware.
Perform testing and validation of electronic systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth transition from design to production.Project Management:
Lead and manage firmware and electronic engineering projects from concept to completion, alongside the other team members.
Develop and maintain project timelines, ensuring on-time delivery of milestones.
Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders and other teams/departments.
Identify and mitigate risks associated with firmware and electronic engineering projects.Research and Innovation:
Stay updated on the latest trends and advancements in firmware development and electronic engineering.
Conduct research and feasibility studies to explore new technologies and methodologies.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of Olarm's products and processes through innovation and creativity.
Work closely with software engineers, hardware engineers, and product managers to achieve project goals.
Provide mentorship and technical support to junior engineers and team members.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment within the engineering team.Any other reasonable task.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in firmware development and electronic engineering, with a strong portfolio of successful projects.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++ for embedded systems as well as experience with git software version control.
Experience with Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) design and accreditation tests.
Strong understanding of microcontrollers, sensors, and communication protocols.
Experience with simulation tools and test equipment for electronic systems.
Familiarity with IoT technologies and applications.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Project management experience and the ability to lead and manage complex engineering projects.
Experience with regulatory compliance and industry standards for electronic devices is a plus, as well as knowledge of technologies such as:
LoRa / LoRaWAN
BLE
Experienced in designing low power wireless products
Experience with designing home security products
Experience with home automation & Smart home products.
