Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer specializing in Rail Track Design to join our team in Centurion, South Africa. In this critical role, you will lead the design and development of complex rail track projects, ensuring optimal safety, efficiency, and performance of rail infrastructure.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and oversee detailed rail track designs for various projects, including new installations, upgrades, and maintenance initiativesConduct comprehensive track geometry calculations and analysis to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulationsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate track designs with other railway systems and infrastructure componentsManage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure timely delivery of high-quality design solutionsPerform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for rail track design projectsStay updated on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in rail track designMentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their professional development and technical expertiseLiaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements and compliance standards are metPrepare and present technical reports, design documentation, and project proposalsQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (required)Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in rail track design, with a proven track record of successful project deliveryAdvanced proficiency in rail track design software, such as AutoCAD and MicroStationStrong analytical skills and expertise in track geometry calculations and analysisIn-depth knowledge of rail industry standards, regulations, and best practicesExcellent project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneouslyProfessional Engineering (PE) license preferredRelevant rail industry certifications (e.g., AREMA) preferredDemonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detailStrong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teamsWillingness to travel to project sites as neededFamiliarity with South African rail regulations and standards is a plusAdditional InformationAbout AECOM AECOM is the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, delivering professional services throughout the project lifecycle – from advisory, planning, design and engineering to program and construction management.
