Position Overview The Manager, Facilities & EHS is responsible for managing daily building-related activities, ensuring that the infrastructure, facilities, and environment are safe, efficient, and well-functioning. This role requires effective contract and EHS management with suppliers and contractors. The performance of the facilities & EHS departments is measured with KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) against the services provided and managed using tools such as a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Eco-Online to plan and track maintenance and EHS indicators.
Essential Job Functions Lead and coordinate the site facilities team to ensure a high-level customer experience and operational excellence.Overall responsibility for EHS in operations in JNB including direction, strategic development, performance, and maintenance.Manage maintenance scheduling information aligned to supply chain contracts for management and customers.Manage multiple one-time and/or ongoing projects.Ensure supplier performance meets company expectations and contracts.First contact for any Operational EHS concerns.Participate in strategic plan implementation, track metrics, provide leadership and training, meet day-to-day EHS responsibilities, and drive continuous improvement.Provide leadership and direction to coordinate, develop, implement, and enforce EHS compliance with legislative frameworks and company policies.Direct, manage, and maintain contact with internal and external clients/customers.Develop strategic plans (KPIs) aligned with EHS department requirements for team activities.Investigate incidents and accidents to ensure timely production of corrective and preventative action plans.Duties Provide professional guidance to customers, management, and the team in a prompt and courteous manner.Support the PFM in ensuring the site is a safe working environment suitable for employees and customers.Collaborate with the Director, EHS, EMEA to ensure standardization of policies and procedures across South Africa.Conduct regulatory training programs to meet EHS requirements.Analyze safety metrics and communicate results to leadership to drive action and accountability.Present information/metrics regularly to site leadership teams and the Director EHS EMEA.Accountable for EHS performance metrics and implementation of annual improvement plans.Stand in for the PFM in their absence and act as the first point of contact for Facilities-related issues.Manage and coordinate activities carried out by third parties.Ensure compliance with Data Centre rules and ISO accreditation guidelines.Maintain mechanical and electrical infrastructure in line with OEM recommendations.Coordinate day-to-day maintenance and facilities activities.Facilitate site tours for potential and existing customers as required.Manage relationships between Vantage Operations and customer activities on site.Ensure compliance with Site Access processes and procedures.Plan and implement activities relating to Site and Grounds maintenance.Support the PFM in site EH&S duties and audits.Manage the site CMMS.Support planning and implementation of site Pre Planned Maintenance and remedial work.Maintain a close relationship with the Customer Experience Team.Ensure building maintenance meets high safety standards.Conduct safety audits on contractors.Engage in monthly safety walks with clients and the Operations team.Job Requirements NEBOSH General Certificate preferred.IEMA General Certificate preferred.In-depth knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation.Experience in Data Centre or Critical Infrastructure industries preferred.Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate internally and externally.Excellent planning and organization skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities.Assertive and confident with the ability to build credibility within the business and customer base.Work effectively in collaboration cross-functionally.Confident decision maker with limited information.Reliable transportation for site reporting and emergencies.Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office 365.Travel expected to be less than 5% for training purposes.Successful completion of a background check required.We operate with No Ego and No Arrogance.
