Job Title: Head of Legal and Compliance

Job Context: We're on the lookout for a Head of Legal and Compliance to be the driving force behind our legal projects. As the Head of Legal and Compliance, you will collaborate closely with top management to deliver innovative legal solutions that mitigate risks tied to our strategic priorities and business initiatives. You will lead a skilled team in managing business contracts, analyzing bids and proposals, and overseeing the legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, disposals, and due diligence. Additionally, you will navigate regulatory submissions, negotiate licensing conditions, and proactively assess Requests for Proposals and new legislation to ensure compliance. Your role will also involve leading the resolution of pre-claims to protect the company's reputation and legal standing.
Job Scope & Responsibilities: Partner with business executives and management across the company's operations regarding specialized and generalized areas of law and compliance.Manage legal claims, cases, and representation whether insured or not.Oversee contracts and contract management.Handle regulatory submissions and appearances, including objections, pleas, affidavits, and petitions.Engage in strategic acquisitions and disposals.Address labor-related matters and insolvency issues.Implement debt recovery practices and dispute resolution methods.Research and stay up to date with relevant legislation in corporate/commercial, e-commerce, and online gaming law.Align strategy plans and business practices with changes in legislative requirements.Deliver plans for an integrated legal, regulatory, and compliance system.Manage the formulation and application of policies, procedures, and standards linked to regulations.Engage with industry bodies representing the company's gambling businesses.Analyze and investigate case law and structure remedies to legal problems.Act as an advisor to leadership regarding litigation decisions.Prepare and analyze bids, proposals, and contracts.Draft, review, and negotiate major agreements and contracts.Oversee the contract lifecycle and manage related correspondence.Apply effective risk management techniques.Present registration documents to regulatory agencies and negotiate necessary authorizations.Ensure compliance with various acts and regulations.Develop and review internal controls, standards, and operating procedures.Oversee applications for national key employee licenses and gaming licenses.Communicate with management on strategy and legal decisions.Represent the company on various committees.Build and manage relationship agreements with key suppliers and partners.Provide guidance and support to the legal and compliance team.Drive a culture of quality standards, ethics, and governance. Qualification and Experience: Qualification: LLB Degree and Admitted as an Attorney.
Experience: Minimum 8-10 years post-articles qualification experience in a law firm or in-house, including 3 years managing vendor relationships. Experience in a regulatory field in a law firm or regulated industry is advantageous.
Work Conditions and Special Requirements: May be required to work outside of normal working hours, including weekends and public holidays.
Competencies: Technical proficiency in gaming legislation and regulations.Advanced knowledge of FIC principles, Consumer Protection Act, and corporate governance.Strong negotiation and contract management skills.Ability to apply business acumen and sound judgment.Excellent problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Package & Remuneration: Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
