Financial Reporting Accountant

PURPOSE OF THIS ROLEThe purpose of this job is to prepare financial reports of the organisation. The role assists the Headof Finance with supervision of finance professionals including graduate trainee(s).Key Accountabilities, Measures & Interfaces Prepare and/or file Statutory returns (PROV TAX and ITR14) Review the audit file; Prepare stakeholder reports (Board and management, Dtic, Prudential Authority, FinancialSector Conduct Authority, National Treasury and SARB); Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts; Preparation of the corporate annual financial statements in accordance to IFRS and Client'saccounting policies Coordination of the audit process and liaison with internal and external auditors; Assist with the implementation of new accounting standards e.g. preparation of theimplementation plan and related deliverables Co-develops the required best practice, systems and procedures to achieve business goals. Assist with adhoc assignments as requested by the Head of Finance or CFOKey Measures Timely submission of stakeholder reports Number of audit observations; Compliance with procedural and legislative requirements; Management of client relationships and key stakeholders;Key Interfaces Client Executives and Managers Other business unit particularly Investments, Actuarial, Portfolio management and PEAR; Internal and External AuditorsQualifications & Experience An Accounting degree with articles; CA(SA) or CIMA is preferred Minimum of 5 years working experience (3 years of articles and 2 years post articleexperience in a financial institution)Skills & AbilitiesThe incumbent should have demonstrated the following competencies: Knowledge: IFRS, Tax, Auditing, PFMA; Adequate financial statement analysis skills; Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels; Strong aptitude for problem resolution and decision making; Able to demonstrate a high degree of integrity; Problem solving skills to identify issues and present creative and practical solutions; Adequate analytical skills; Strict attention to detail and deadline orientated; Risk management skills Advanced MsExcel Skills Risk management skills
