The Group Office provides strategic direction and support to the five clusters, assisting them in realising their strategies and meeting their business objectives.
The Group Office is responsible for governance and for the Group's centralised functions, which include: Finance, Actuarial and Risk Management, Strategy, Human Resources, Market Development and Sustainability.
What will you do?Applies principles of accounting to analyse financial information and prepare financial reports.
Compiles and analyses financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
Analyses financial information detailing with assets, liabilities and capital.
Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports to summarise and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
Audits contracts, orders and vouchers and prepares reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
Installs, modifies, documents and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures.
May make recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.
May have supervisory responsibilities.What will make you successful in this role?Accounting and tax related reporting duties for SEM Pty Ltd: Debtors related duties (invoices and payments): Monitoring and clearing of bank control accounts (.
capitalisations, etc) Bancassurance arrangement: Amortisation/Impairment of intangible asset Recovery invoices Loans accrued interest Processing of SAP journals Preparation of dividend and investment schedules HFM disclosures Preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS Facilitating of audit process Loan reconciliations Budgets and forecasts Trial balance controls Tax calculations (income/dividend/VAT) and completion of returns Deferred and restricted share plans (Assist): Running dual process and testing outputs of new platform Compiling the schedules according to current process (PowerBI), including journals SAP entries for Group Office Distribution of deliverables to auditors Compiling related disclosures Maintaining payment schedule Intercompany process in consolidation system (currently HFM): Run reports and ensure that there are no ICP validations on group level Facilitate the process to get the ICP validations cleared, in line with the ICP policy Compliance/risk related tasks (Assist): Maintaining internal Risk and Control Matrix's (RACMs) Maintaining processes (PRCMs) linked to risks identified Facilitating the building of a repository of all the processes in the area and including detailed process documents.
Internal as well as cluster support with the representation letter process via Power Automate.
Regulatory reporting: SARB: Collecting of foreign financial statements Populate excel templates Collate approvals SAM Group Regulatory reporting: Loan and investment in subsidiary eliminations on a deduction and aggregation basis International association of insurance supervisors submission Other functions: Compiling of remuneration certificates and respective key management disclosures including audit liaison.
Compilation of monthly exchange rate files Support the Data Owner with the File Share Migration Programme Functional and user acceptance testing of all relevant systems as and when required Other ad hoc tasks where required Qualification and Experience BCom Accounting or equivalent qualification A minimum of 2-4 years' experience in an accounting/financial environment Similar relevant experience in the insurance/financial industry Experience in using Sanlam's financial reporting systems (SAP/Hyperion Financial Management) will be advantageous Well informed about or proficient in the use of modern technology and digital solutions Good knowledge of IFRS principles and standards Insurance Act, Companies Act Computer literate (Advanced Excel) Knowledge and SkillsFinancial AnalysisFinancial planning and recommendationsFinancial Information ProcessingFinancial ReportingPeople ManagementPersonal AttributesDecision quality - Contributing through othersFinancial acumen - Contributing through othersPlans and aligns - Contributing through othersCommunicates effectively - Contributing through othersBuild a successful career with usWe're all about building strong, lasting relationships with our employees.
