Financial Manager – Developer – Cape Town, South Africa11 Jul 2024Country: South AfricaCompany: DeveloperExperience: 3+Duties and responsibilitiesTeam ManagementManage the finance team consisting of 5 team membersKey liaison between the finance team and the various departmentOperationalOversee billing and the capturing process of invoicesOversee the project budgeting process and ensure budgets are up to dateComplete tasks relating to the closure of the monthly management processOversee and ensure that vendors are paid timeouslyReview invoices for payment and approval thereofAssist with the financial closure process of projectsAssist with the bidding process of new projectsEnsure recoverable costs are billed to clientsAssist with requests from the various departmentsReview operational reports prepared by contractorsPrepare internal operational reports for various stakeholdersInvolvement in finance-related operational matters e.g., insurance cover, carbon tax, and related creditsManagement of key reports, including contracts as required by PPA's, Facility Agreements & othersReportingReview revenue, purchase orders, and invoices for accuracy, classification, and approvalEnsure monthly accounting entries are accurately captured in ERP system and in line with the Group's monthly close timingsReview monthly accounting entries made and ensure key checks and controls have been performedPrepare monthly management accounts for operating SPV, service companies, and other group companiesReport actuals vs approved budgetInvestigate, understand, and explain variances – working with local asset management teamPrepare board pack slidesPrepare reporting slides to the audit committeeLook for opportunities to improve P&L performancePreparing annual budget and reviewsPrepare an overall annual budget for the group and individual service entitiesProbe the figures provided by the various departments for reasonability and accuracySimulate cash flows and forecastsLoan ComplianceUnderstanding the terms in the various facility and shareholders agreementsPrepare loan compliance reports as necessaryEnsure debt service payments are paid on time and accuratelyBe the key relationship point for interaction with lendersWorking capital managementCoordinate accounts payable process to ensure all invoices are logged, approved, and paid on timeOwnership of local cash planning and managementBe the key relationship point for local banking providersResponsible for local compliance with Group financial control policies e.g., approval matrix, bank authoritiesCash flow management and forecastingPrepare equity contribution slides for shareholder considerationCoordinating local audit work for any local statutory audit requirements and Group audit reviewCoordinate & manage local audit timetablePrepare audit deliverablesCoordinate the AFS preparationManage consolidation of multiple companiesReport to the audit committeeEnsuring tax compliance for Operating and Service CompaniesEnsure corporate income tax returns prepared by tax adviser are filed timely and accuratelyEnsure VAT returns are filed timely and accurately where applicableEnsure payroll & payroll taxes are filed timely and accuratelyEnsure withholding tax etc (if applicable) are paid timely and accuratelyEnsure all tax payments due are paid on timeERP systemEnsure the new ERP system functions as designedEnsure the objectives laid down for the phase II of the project are achievedMonitor and measure the effectiveness of the processes within the new ERP systemTrain and support the business wherever necessaryPayrollComplete the full payroll function in conjunction with HRObtain employee changes information from HR and load the changes on the payroll systemEnsure all changes are captured with key consideration for tax implicationsReview the payroll information and send for approvalEnsure payroll information is accurately captured on the banking system and approvedExecute the payroll and ensure the entries correctly reconcile with the ERP systemEnsure payroll taxes are paid on time and payroll leave adjustments are correctly reflectedCommunicationEffective communication with various stakeholders is criticalFinancial requirements and operational matters communicated to stakeholders at board levelRequired skills and education backgroundDegree in Accounting/Finance and a recognized accounting qualification is essential. CA (SA) is preferredAt least 3 years' experience, ideally within an energy, utility, industrial company or similar industryExperience in project finance loan management is an advantageCaseware knowledge is advantageousUnderstanding of IFRS, Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial AnalysisGood relationship builder with excellent communication skillsExcellent command of the English language – both written and verbalFamiliarity with Financial modeling would be an advantageThe ideal candidate would have a passion for the Renewable Energy sector and personality traits would include a high level of diligence, determination, resilience, and agilityMulilo is an employer of choice and is offering an extremely competitive total remuneration package for this positionAdditional InformationAble to work overtime according to operational needsThe position is based at the offices of the company, but travel may be required occasionally
