Finance Manager Job DescriptionIn this role, you'll be working closely with the Finance Executive, Business Executives, and various departments within a matrix environment. They are seeking an individual with a proven track record in managing a finance team and a dedication to fostering a culture of high performance, partnering, and exceptional customer service. As the entrusted Finance Manager, your primary responsibilities will include delivering accurate and timely financial reporting and ensuring adherence to corporate governance standards within the operations. This role requires a professional with the ability to make operational decisions efficiently, aligning with our commitment to optimal resource utilization and stringent timing requirements.Duties & ResponsibilitiesManaging the daily finance functions for the operating unit.Financial oversight over the respective manufacturing site, ensuring company policies and internal controls are adhered to.Financial and operational support to the Finance Executive.Ensuring financial completeness, and that general ledger and subsidiary ledgers are maintained in accordance with IFRS and Group policy.Review, assess and recommend levels of provisions.Monthly review of all general ledger balance sheet reconciliations.Oversee monthly financial month end close, ensuring deadlines are met.Business Plan and ForecastingCompletion of the business plan & forecasting processes, specifically focused on Balance Sheet Drivers & ROIC.Completion of divisional consolidation of business plans and forecasts.Monthly ReportingFinancial reporting for the operating unit as required (monthly, quarterly, and annually).Return on invested capital - report back on 12 month rolling stats and identify opportunities within capital structure or working capital investment to improve ROIC.Monthly working capital reviews.Treasury updates (loans/interest costs).5-year cash flow forecasting against operational requirements and capital investments.Financial Year End and Statutory AuditsResponsible for the compilation of all year-end reporting packs.Responsible for the coordination of the year-end external audit.Addressing queries arising from Head Office.Assisting all stakeholders with various queries regarding business processes.Assisting in the compilation of documents and schedules for Ad hoc audits (BEE, Food Safety, etc).Submission of reports for the purposes of StatSA, updating banking documentation, etc.Budgeting and forecasting of the balance sheet and cash flow statement annually and quarterly.BankingImplement processes and controls ensuring that company cash policies are adhered to, and daily cash requirements are met.Submission of the consolidated cash flow to Treasury.Oversee cash forecasting (weekly and daily) as well as spend reporting.Performance of all functions associated with a banking signatory across the Bakeries and the Mill.Releasing of daily payments and approving once-off cash book payments.Fixed Asset Life Cycle ManagementSupporting the fixed assets team to ensure that the annual physical asset verification is performed and conducted within timeframes.Supporting the fixed assets team to ensure that useful lives and residual value reassessments are performed annually in compliance with IFRS.Internal ControlsContinuously identify and pursue opportunities to improve control procedures.Follow up on audit queries and ensure that corrective action is taken by responsible teams.Ensure compliance with approved procedures by means of control checks performed by the finance team.Debtor Management of Sundry DebtorsOversight of team processing invoices, credit memos and receipts where relevant.Staff ManagementManagement of the finance team.Ensure that the team members are adequately developed and managed proactively to ensure quality delivery.Partnering in a Matrix EnvironmentAct as the conduit between business and the various central finance teams (group, central finance and sales admin finance teams) to ensure effective communication amongst different teams and to ensure finance deliverables are met.Desired Experience & QualificationCA (SA) with 5-8 years post-article experience.Proven track record of reporting and financial management.High attention to detail and analytical precision.In-depth understanding of Financial accounting principles and practices (technical expertise) and ability to communicate technical concepts to business speak.3 - 5 years experience in a management role leading teams.Experience in managing an Accounts Payable/Creditors team.In-depth knowledge of the FMCG market and the challenges it faces.Good understanding of Tax and VAT Acts.Syspro or SAP experience would be advantageous.Package & RemunerationMarket related.
