Job Description:
As Financial Manager/ Accountant at Wild Peacock Products, you will play a crucial role in managing daily financial processes and supporting the finance department. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, managing general ledger accounts, and collaborating with various departments to drive financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

Assist in preparing financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Ensure accurate and timely reporting in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.


Management and Board Packs:

Aid in the preparation of Monthly Management Accounts and Quarterly Board Packs.
Liaise with stakeholders to gather necessary information for these packs.


General Ledger Management:

Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Provide reconciliations of General Ledger accounts as part of the Monthly Management Pack.


Inventory Management:

Collaborate with the inventory team to monitor and reconcile stock levels.
Conduct regular inventory counts and ensure accurate valuation of inventory.


Cost Analysis:

Analyze costs associated with production, distribution, and sales.
Provide insights on cost-saving opportunities and identify areas for improvement.


Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in developing budgets and forecasts for various departments or product lines.
Monitor actual performance against budgeted targets and provide variance analysis.


Accounts Payable:

Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payment.
Check creditor reconciliations and verify all reconciliations to the Creditors Age Analysis.


Accounts Receivable:

Manage the Debtors team, conduct daily meetings, drive collections, and monitor outstanding balances.
Follow up on overdue payments and collaborate with the Sales Team to ensure debt collection.


Tax Compliance:

Assist in preparing and filing tax returns, including VAT, EMP201, EMP501, and Provisional Taxes.
Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws and regulatory bodies, including SARS and the Department of Labour for Workman's Compensation.


Financial Analysis:

Conduct financial analysis to support business decision-making.
Analyze pricing strategies, profitability of product lines, and evaluate the financial impact of marketing campaigns.


Audit Support:

Assist with internal and external audits, provide necessary documentation, and address audit queries.
Implement audit recommendations and improve internal controls where necessary.


Systems and Process Improvement:

Collaborate with the finance team to identify areas for continued process improvement and automation.


Industry Knowledge:

Maintain an in-depth understanding of the FMCG industry.
Understand and improve financial ratios applicable to our industry.



Additional Responsibilities:

Manage cash flow, including daily, weekly, and monthly forecasting.
Plan payments and debtors' collection.
Load payments onto the bank and conduct bank reconciliations.
Prepare monthly petty cash reconciliations and ensure proper management of all cash transactions.
Oversee financial aspects of stock takes, variances, and write-offs.
Maintain fixed assets register, including vehicle fleet management.
Prepare monthly General Ledger Reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules.
Resolve queries and follow up on exceptions in General Ledger Reconciliations.
Assist with ad hoc duties in the Finance Department and step into functions of a debtors or creditors controller if needed.

Strong collaborative skills.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Proven experience in an accounting role.
Minimum 3 years' experience in wholesale & FMCG industries.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
