A private equity-backed multinational firm, based in Cape Town, is seeking a Financial Controller to lead their head office finance function and ensure compliance, reporting, and transaction processing across their holding companies.
This role offers a unique opportunity to manage and develop a finance team, driving the improvement of financial controls, monthly management accounts, and regulatory compliance. The Financial Controller will oversee a team of three and be responsible for the accounting and financial reporting for the head office, ensuring smooth transaction processing, payments, and compliance with IFRS standards. Additionally, they will be the main business partner for head office cost centres, contributing to budgeting, cost reviews, and recharges.
The successful candidate will also act as the primary point of contact for auditors and play a key role in ensuring compliance with VAT and corporation tax obligations across the group. This is a leadership role within a fast-paced, acquisitive business, offering the chance to significantly contribute to the firm's growth and success.
Key qualifications for the Financial Controller: Minimum 5 years of industry experience (preferably in highly acquisitive or private equity-funded businesses / professional services / business partnering)Strong MS Office skills, particularly ExcelKey duties for the Financial Controller include but are not limited to: Lead a team of three, managing head office accounting, financial reporting, transactions, payments, and complianceMaintain and improve financial controls and procedures under IFRSOversee monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and departmental P&Ls with timely submissionsAct as a business partner for cost centres, managing budgets, cost reviews, and rechargesServe as the main contact for group auditorsApprove payments, ensuring deadlines for lending, payroll, AP, taxes, and other liabilities are metOversee VAT compliance, payroll funding, tax reconciliations, and cash flow forecastsManage group loans, intercompany transactions, and compliance with transfer pricing policiesSupervise dividend procedures, external debt accounting, and withholding tax complianceImplement and oversee flex benefits and intercompany invoicing proceduresEnsure transfer pricing compliance and quarterly tax reportingLead team development and continuous improvement initiativesKey personal skills for the successful Financial Controller: Excellent communication skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholdersProven leadership ability and team management experienceHigh attention to detail and accuracyAdaptability to change and fast-paced environmentsIf you are passionate about leading a finance team and driving compliance and financial performance within a dynamic business, then please get in touch to learn more.
