Financial Manager Business Partner: Retail PURPOSE Responsible for the financial health of a division.
To provide general financial accounting support, assist with the budgeting and forecasting process, and to conduct financial reporting to support sound financial decision making.
Producing financial reports and developing strategies based on financial research.
Guiding Business Unit Leads and Senior Executives in making sound business decisions in the long and short term.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Submit the budget of the relevant business units to management for approval on an annual basis according to policy, procedure, and internal controls.
Manage costs and expenses in the department, identifying areas for improvement and proposing cost optimization strategies.
Produce and review the monthly management accounts for the business unit as requested according to policy, procedure, and internal controls.
Provide analysis on the monthly management accounts, including variance analysis.
Prepare monthly practice reviews and assist the practice lead as needed.
Maintain knowledge of the full finance position of the practice, present and future.
Compile, submit, and present all financial reports as required by management according to policy, procedure, and internal controls.
Provide overall finance support and guidance to the relevant business unit to achieve its objectives.
Assist in approving and releasing local and international payments, manage billing to optimize the order to cash cycle, and monitor debt collection to improve debtors days to 65 days.
Be responsible for the division's balance sheets according to legislation, policy, and internal controls.
Monitor and approve the business unit's reconciliations monthly according to policy, procedure, and internal controls.
Prepare the monthly forecast for the relevant business unit.
Contribute towards optimizing financial processes.
Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders by complying with legislation, policy, and procedure while delivering on customer experience.
Resolve or escalate customer queries/complaints according to relevant policy and procedure.
Comply with the data/information requirements of the auditors within deadlines according to relevant policy, procedure, and internal controls.
Approve relevant financial workflows and processes affecting the division according to policy, procedure, and internal controls.
Implement and update all relevant internal policies, procedures, and controls in line with legislation.
Ensure all allocated and contracted development activities (Individual Development Plan) between manager and employee are completed within the policy framework.
Identify, allocate, discuss, and contract developmental activities for all direct reports in line with policy and procedures.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Degree or equivalent qualification.
SAIPA/SAICA advantageous.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting and financial management/finance business partnering experience.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
