Vacancy NameFinancial Accounting ManagerVacancy NoVN909Contract TypeEFTLocationCape TownDescriptionOVERALL PURPOSEReporting to the Group Head of Financial Reporting, the Financial Accounting Manager will be responsible for the effective management of a small team to ensure the accurate and timely month end close process for all entities in the Group, including the preparation/review and submission of regulatory returns, VAT and tax calculations, and the provision of financial information to business functions across the Group, enabling them to make budgeting and investment decisions.Key ResponsibilitiesPRINCIPAL ELEMENTS AND ACCOUNTABILITIESTo ensure the production of high-quality financial outputs in a timely manner from the financial accounting team, including the following:Bank reconciliations are performed on a weekly and monthly basis to ensure that the cash records are correct.Liaise with the accounts payable team to ensure that accruals and prepayments are booked correctly.Liaise with the billing team to ensure that they have completed the billing, WIP accruals, bad debt provisions, and income split journals for assigned Group entities.Provide technical guidance to the Group Accountant on complex accounting transactions or IFRS calculations (e.g., IFRS 9 and 16).Review of the monthly trend analysis for assigned Group entities.Preparing and reviewing the monthly profit and loss, and balance sheet reports.Review the balance sheet reconciliation prepared by the Group Accountants and flag any unusual items.Review and complete VAT and Tax returns for the relevant tax authority within required deadlines.Ensure that the team understands and adheres to all financial and accounting regulations and legislation.Assist with the completion and review of regulatory returns during busy periods and provide data to the regulatory reporting team for monthly regulatory capital updates.Review of the local and Group SLA's calculations.Review the monthly payroll for assigned jurisdictions.Review month payroll journals for assigned entities.Preparation of weekly/monthly cash flow forecasts, and controlling expenditure and cash flow.Prepare year-end statutory financial statements and review those produced by the team.Respond to ad-hoc financial queries by gathering and interpreting data.Liaison with auditors and ensure the statutory financial statements are signed before the deadline.Provide on-the-job training and support to team members.Lead group finance projects and take responsibility for overseeing projects from start to finish.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEChartered accountant or qualified accountant (SAICA, SAIPA or CIMA) with several years PQE (Preferably SAICA qualified accountant for this role, but SAIPA & CIMA with several years PQE and strong managerial skills would be considered).Previous IFRS experience.Previous experience of managing, developing, and motivating a team.Experience in managing projects.Good knowledge of different jurisdictional tax requirements.Previous financial services experience is beneficial.Regulatory filings experience.COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURSExcellent technical accounting skills.Coaching and strong management skills.Good knowledge of different accounting systems - knowledge of Microsoft Business Central would be an advantage.Advanced Excel skills (macro level, including Power Pivot and Power BI is advantageous).Very good attention to detail and an organised logical approach is essential.Proactive and solutions-oriented.Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships and influence change.Team player.Project management skills.Education LevelDegree or EquivalentExperience LevelSeniorBenefits
