Financial AccountantOur client, a high impact investment holding company, is currently in search of a Financial Accountant with experience in the Financial Services Industry to contribute to their dedicated team.Purpose of the jobThe purpose of this function is to ensure that the technical tax and accounting services provided to the company and SPV conform with the accounting reporting standards and that effective and efficient financial analysis is taken into account. In this position, it is crucial to have the capacity to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data, comprehend both big-picture and specific thinking, and strike a balance between complexity and simplicity. The role involves compiling annual separate and consolidated financial statements in compliance with the relevant legislation and IFRS, with a strong focus on the technical tax and IFRS opinions with respect to investment transactions.Key Performance AreasInvestment Analysis:For tax, accounting, and reporting purposes, investment contracts are analyzed and investment transactions are interpreted.Analyze the financial statements of investee firms every quarter and provide a performance report.Keep all data, transaction records, and investment paperwork up to date and maintained.Create monthly reports on investment performance for the investment team's review.Ensure that interest schedules and dividend amounts are shared with the investment team.Assist the investment department in assessing new asset models to ensure sufficient audit factors are considered.Budgeting and Reporting:Consolidated budget preparation in the annual financial statement format.Analysis of valuation models in preparation for the audit and ensuring sufficient audit evidence is available ahead of the audit.Manage the external auditing procedures, correspond with auditors, and create the necessary supporting documents for audits.Analyze audit reports and implement measures to minimize audit differences.Financial Reporting and Analysis:Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual portfolio performance reports for CFO, CEO, committees, boards, and shareholders.Ensure that an outside party reviews and validates the annual performance reporting once a year.Provide consistent updates to the most recent dividend projections.Oversee the treasury function and provide cash flow projections.Assist SPVs in completing their monthly closure processes.Gather transactional data to facilitate the creation of monthly management accounts and financial statements.Help with presentation and audit committee preparation.Create the covenant reporting each month.Ensure IFRS compliance and prepare the group's consolidated annual financial statements.Main charge of creating the yearly financial statements and accompanying schedules.Governance and Sustainability:Proactively identify potential risks/issues regarding the quality of financial data and compliance.Review accounting policies and IFRS changes.Develop and manage financial systems/policies and ensure their implementation.Ensure implementation of audit recommendations.Assist with corporate reporting requirements as per King IV.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and Acts.Tax Planning and Compliance:Examine and file provisional and yearly tax returns.Evaluate and file monthly VAT returns.Finalize tax calculations and correspond with SARS.Prepare tax opinions for financial transactions.IT Governance:Drive digitization and automation within the Finance department.Assist in the maintenance of finance IT systems.Team Dynamics:Manage junior employees and oversee CA trainees, including day-to-day communication and performance management.Desired Experience & QualificationsExperience Required:Not less than 3 years' experience in the financial services industry.Assist the Group Manager Finance in analyzing the impact of various business decisions on the short and long-term strategy of the business.Qualifications Required:Newly qualified Chartered Accountant (SA).
